Re: Video Game High Score Competition

Ah yes, the famous homerun game. Fun stuff, indeed. And Shiek, let me say, your scores are quite excellent

I'm going to have to bust out SSB and check out my scores. I'm not sure if they are as good as yours...

As long as you're up for it, feel free to post scores even if they don't make the leader board. In fact, you don't even have to check if they make the leader board. Simply post them, and I'll do that for you. Thus far, I've updated pretty much whenever there's a new post, and as long as it doesn't become overwhelming, I will continue to do so.

Wow, shiek you worked really realyl realyl hard on this thread. I know a few games you should add. RE4 Shooting Range and GTA: SA scores (I'll get back to you at that one). Another fun one to compete with would be LoTR scores. That would be really fun, seeing as how almost everyone plays that game (er... I think?).

OH YA! I have made about 400 kills on southern gate on return of the king! I can't remember the exact score though.

I've never played the LOTR games...I doubt I'm the only one. Personally I don't think that is a very good choice unless many people participate in getting high scores for that game.

Could you explain what these things mean please? I don't own the game. I'm not sure that it is applicable to this thread. It's nice that you're telling us your class, but in the end, there really isn't a way to say who's class is better. Do you know where I'm coming from? If you can show me that the game has lots of NUMERICAL DATA (this is the key) then I'll add it. Your "score" catogory is a good example. If you want me to add it, tell me what the score is referring to, and record any other numerical scores that are in the game.

One thing I'd like to try to stay away from is adding mini-games within what are primarly 1 player adventures. For example, the RE shooting gallery. Adding that might not be a good idea, because several people may be tied for perfect. Even if there is no perfect score, a game with a single mini-game may not be sufficient. Sure, I could add the mail sorting game in WW, but I just don't think that is enough. Fable was okay, because whoever suggested that it should be added proved that there was plenty of numerical scores.

Not to brag or anything, but the games that I listed in the first post in this thread are ideal. Try to post scores to them, or request games like them be added.

I'll still add any game you want though, as long as you can prove it to be a quality addition.

Re: Video Game High Score Competition

I might of misunderstood what you were saying but I think I got it.

Things in star wars battlefront you are scored on are; amount of enemy soldiers killed, amount of enemy vehicles destroyed, the longest you stayed alive, amount of kills you got by shooting enemies in the head, the longest you stayed in one place, the most of your own men you killed, the most amount of times you died, and there's more I can't think of right now but there's alot of them.

Is that what you were asking? I'm not sure.

Yeah this is fine. Based on the criterion you have presented me, I think that Star Wars Battlefront will be a decent, though not great, addition. Simply post all of your scores to the catogories you listed, so long as they involve numbers.

Re: Video Game High Score Competition

Amount of enemy soldiers killed: 119

amount of enemy vehicles destroyed: 6

The longest you stayed alive: I forgot this one.

Amount of kills you got by shooting enemies in the head: 21

The longest you stayed in one place: Forgot the exact time but it was for the entire battle because I was sniping.

The most of your own men you killed: 102 (lol)

The most amount of times you died: 12 (I did it intentionally for fun.)

Re: Video Game High Score Competition

Alright, I added Star Wars Battlefront to the Leaderboard. Naturally, Quark is the leader for every catogory. Although, in a way, I regret adding it, simply because a lot of the catogories seem more like stats than high scores, but we'll see how it goes.

Re: Video Game High Score Competition

Updated your scores. Looks like you've further tightened your dominance in the SSBM homerun contest! By the way, I appreciate the way you formated your post. You posted all of your scores, but put stars next to the ones where you hold the best score. Thanks.

I thought that I had done pretty much perfect with Roy, but I guess not. Impressive scores for Samus and Zelda as well.

I think I'm going to go try to reclaim some of my spots for various games.

Also, if I may offer a suggestion, maybe you should have high scores for the Multi-Man Melee modes.

Thanks for running this! It looks really professional and everything!

I've got some F-ZERO GX scores. I bolded the quicker times.

Casino Palace - 58:746
Sand Ocean - 2:02:493

Lightning - 2:08:278
Aeropolis - 2:13:530 (this is my favorite track... one of the few I can beat the ghosts on)

Sapphire
Big Blue - 1:16:325 (I just suck at this one)
Port Town - 2:30:211
Green Plant - 1:42:101
Port Town - 2:32:893

There's my scores. I may dig up the Mariokarts and stuff, but this is all I have time to do for now.

Re: Video Game High Score Competition

I guess your right shiek, seeing as how RE4 isn't all statistical, but it does have a really good statistic based mini-game unlocked when you beat it, its called The Mercinaries, and it's all about killing enemies in a time limit, in which you get poitns. If that's not perfect for this, than I'm a tree. You should atleast add that. I can give you mroe details.

Alright, as for GTA, there are tons of stat based things. Throughout San Andreas there are arcade-style minigames everywhere you can find in 24/7 convenient stores, which are somewhat good for this thread, despite the fact that nobody plays them. But it's full of other stat-based number competitions, like for insance, just open up the stats window on the pause menu. There you have it. It seriously does not get more stat based than that. I have the game and have played it tons. Not trying to brag, just giving you a heads up, that if you want to add it, it's a popular game, and it's very stat based. And I can give you full details on the entire thing. I could probably pull up tons more, such as race scores, driving/boating/flying school records, and many more things. Trust me, there are tons.

Sorry. I'll fix that soon. I'll also have to find out who has the high score for psyche out.

I've never really liked Multi-Man Melee that much, but if you submit some scores, I'll gladly add it.

Yes! Finally someone owns F-Zero GX! Yes, you may certainly use custom vehicles. My experience has been that they usually suck anyway. No offense against yours, but whenever I've tried to make a custom vehicle, it handles very poorly.

Yeah, I guess Mercinaries would be fine. If you post your scores for GTA, I'll probably add them. I'm thinking about removing Star Wars Battlefront though. Understand that there is a difference between high scores and statistics. For example (and I'm not saying this is in the game, it is only an example), number of civilians killed would not be a good catogory.

Okay, I'll update everybodies scores. I have quite a few of my own to add, so it may be awhile.

[Update]

Added Nameless' scores for F-Zero GX. By and large they put mine to shame. I guess customized cars can be good. In Aeropolis Multiplex, he beat me by 16 seconds, which is sickening in F-Zero. I also noticed that he did much better on the "Cylinder" levels, which I am horrible at, and hate very much. However, my F-Zero scores weren't as refined as my Mario Kart scores, so I'm sure I can beat a couple of his these.

Added Pandachum's scores for Target Test in SSBM. Took out the Psyche Out score. If anybody wants to post a score for that, I'll add it. I'll add Multi Man Melee is someone posts their scores for it.

Removed Star Wars Battlefront from the leader board. Sorry Quark, but those were statistics, not high scores. I can't believe I added it in the first place.

And now for some of my own scores for the homerun contest in SSBM. I've vastly improved my skill at it, and now have every character over 1,000. After I post this, I will have the best score with every single character (except Mr. Game and Watch, where I'm very close).

I also have a few target test scores, and I would've lead for every character there too, except that Pandachum added some scores today. I bested a couple of my Meteos scores. I have brought it up many times, but doesn't anybody own this fine game? My overall goal is to get over 100,000 on every planet in Deluge, and I have a ways to go.

Finally, I have two Mario Kart Time Trial scores where I was able to surpass lf9. I cannot beat his/her DK Mountain Score, Bowser Castle, or Waluigi Stadium yet, however. Here they are:

Homerun Contest

Dr. Mario 1718.5
Mario 1416.0
Luigi 1142.1
Bowser 1315.6
Peach 1121.7
Yoshi 2454.8
DK 1301.2
Captain Falcon 1169.0
Gannondorf 1552.5
Fox 1363.8
Ness 1047.2
Ice Climbers 1161.4
Samus 1258.5
Zelda 1116.5
Link 1190.3
Young Link 1233.3
Pichu 1079.4
Pikachu 1246.1
Jigglypuff 1412.4
Mewtwo 1141.1
Mr. Game and Watch 1157.5
Marth 1187.7
Roy 1543.0

Target Test

Bowser 00:22:11
Peach 00:26:55
Young Link 00:19:41

Meteos
100 Meteo War 0:08:70
5:00 Time War 189920

Star Trip Straight 861150

For Deluge, I don't know which ones are new, so there may be repeats:

Geolyte 130240
Firim 137780
Freaze 137790
Grannest 138820
Gravitas 58530
Mekks 103250
Jel Jel 145470
Forte 170410
Thirnova 129650
Yooj 112450
Wiral 111900
Hotted 50840
Globin 87580
Starii 88760
Meteo 108330

(I have one more planet I still have yet to unlock)

Mario Kart
Rainbow Road 3:14:336
Dry Dry Desert 1:49:835

As always, notify me of errors. If you doubt any of my scores, I can provide pictures (Sizzlin' left his camera at my house, though I can't guarantee I'll know how to use it).

I felt the same way about custom cars for awhile. The handling is VERY touchy on most of them. They slide too much. I had to make most of my cars having C or D Grip parts, to make them a little less touchy. My current favorite (the Fantasista) is a bit on the "sliding" side, but it can really zoom in-and-out around tight corners. That's why I love that Aeropolis level so much.

However, after a lot of tinkering, I found that you can really get a lot more speed than with the originals if you build it right. That's probably the best reason to go custom.

Seeing as your scores are so much better than mine, I'm going to have to believe you. I might try to make a couple of customized cars in the next few days.
