What if Revolution fails?

What would become of Nintendo if the Revolution crashes and burns while PS3 and Xbox 360 soar? Will become a third party software company? What would become of the Zelda series? AND HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PLAY ZELDA ON THE REVOLUTION CONTROLLER!!!

Re: What if Revolution fails?

The Rev's funky new controller is either going to make or break Nintendo imo. I see no reason why it won't be a sucess but of course I'm not a expert industry analyst.

Even if it were to fail we would still see a Zelda game on that system. That would be their best bet to make more console sales. Don't worry about it Nintendo will keep on plugging along.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

That would be funny and very sad at the same time if the Revolution crashes. I still dont get at all how we would play zelda on the Revolution, I think it might have something to do with the swing of the controler would move Link's sword. Or something around those lines.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

I can't answer the controller question because I'm just going to wait and see how it works. About what will become of Zelda, remember Nintendo doesn't just do home consoles, the DS is doing quite well so they'll continue making Zelda games on their portable consoles I would assume.

Zelda on Xbox!?!
BLASPHAMY!!
Regardless, I think fans as well as nintendo need to take into consideration the possibly crash of Revolution, due to the fact that the system may be well ahead of its time.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

I personally can't see it crashing VERY badly. It will sell well in Japan and China. It may not sell great in N. America, but that will not break Nintendo. N never lets software carry their ball - they make money on ever console sale (Sony and Microsoft lose money on every console sale and rely on software licenses for their profit), so even if Revo doesn't sell well, N will still turn a profit.

And let's not forget the success of the Advance SP and the DS. The DS is a very hot item and will continue to be a hot item, expecially with new wi-fi capabilities. If Revo really DOES crash and burn, N will fall back on its portables and take the home console back to the drawing board for a while.

But back to DS, it's a middle step between traditional control and Revo control. Those who own DS's will be the most likely to purchase Revos because they're already used to a "pointing and dragging" control style.

I think this works better in General Gaming.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

The revolution is not going to fail. Tell me, would you rather play with a conventional controller or spend half as much money and have a great gameplay experience? The Xbox 360 is selling like mad right now because people are just mindless drones that buy the new system without research. The 360 & PS3 may have better graphics than the Revolution, but it is GAMEPLAY that sells to 99.9% of people. I am going to laugh when the Revolution comes out and everyone that bought a 360 realized that they wasted 400 dollars.

P.S. Neverwinter Nights is a GREAT GAME!

So are you saying that playing games online with your friends isn't fun? Are you saying that playing with a PS2 camera thing isn't fun? Are You saying that TP won't be fun because it is on an "old" system? Because if you are, you are the most close minded person I have ever met. In the English custom of saying shut up: Good day!

Re: What if Revolution fails?

Be prepared for a failure on the behalf of the Revolution, its future looks dark as of now. Personally I think it's bound to get in trouble.

And for the record, online gaming for consoles is complete crap. Welcome to the free and simple online gaming of PCs.

Not to mess with a mod, but...... Do you get hundereds of titles(read the rest of the sentence) with voice chat???? Huh? Huh? Huh? Do you??? I think only three games on PC have that.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

Nintendo will never become a second or third-party developer.
Nintendo made a promise to themselves to only develop for their own
systems only and they strictly furfill this. If it were to happen then the
gaming industry would be dead... more dead than it is today. I just
couldn't see a gaming world without Nintendo.

Who gives a damn about voice-chat? That would be around last of the list
of things a gamer should care about. Seriously.

Every single game on PC has voice chat. It's called Ventrilo, or Teamspeak, if you swing that way.

I agree. More and more of my friends are turning to PS3 and Xbox 360, and I feel like I should play them all before making a decision of a system. But the way it looks, Nintendo Revolution looks like it may be in trouble.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

I could not agree with any of you less. The Rev is not going to crash and if it does... I would be terribly surprised.

Reasons Why The Rev Isn't Going To Crash
  • The sheer amount of Nintendo Fanboys would be plenty to make Nintendo a crap load of money.
  • The controller is going to "Revolutionize" the world of gaming. All you people who say "I am going to look like and idiot playing it!" THAT is the most retarded, self-centered, stupidest, and most idiotic reason to hate a console. You look just as idiotic staring at a TV screen all day and this way you get more animated with your gaming. I'm SOOOOO sorry if you lose a couple pounds. Just imagine using the controller for a gun or sword or moving it to the left and on the screen you look left, you move it up and you look up. It is amazing how many possibilities there are.
  • It is truly backwards compatible. The 360 is only has a selective amount of backward compatibility. The Rev goes all the way back to the NES and will play everything.
  • It has Zelda... and the sheer amount of Zelda Fans plus the sheer amount of Nintendo fans could make Nintendo a crap load of money.
  • It is going to be about $100 or even more less then the 360 and the PS3. That is one big reason people will like the Rev.
  • Nintendo is marketing it and making it for anybody... literally. Your grandmother could walk in and start playing a game. Your mother who's hated you playing video games can come in and enjoy it with you. Your younger brother of 2 can try to play it. It is for everyone unlike the PS3 and 360 which was made for hard core gamers. That narrows the people who are going to buy it. As you can see now... it's the 360 that is failing miserably.
  • The Rev is very small. It can be brought anywhere without having to carry a huge monster of a console. This is where Nintendo is genius. They have the design of Apple and the power of Microsoft.
  • The Rev is Quiet. I went to my friends house today and played the 360 that he preordered about 6 months ago and waited in line for about 26 hours for (which he now regrets.) The 360 sounds like a Jet Engine. We were playing a game and we had to turn the TV up to about 3/4s the way up just to hear over the stupid fan. We threw a blanket... a pillow... another blanket... and another blanket over it and could still here that retarded fan.
  • The game play will be awesome and different. All the 360 and PS3 are planning to do is make the graphics better but that is not what you are supposed to do with a console and this is what Nintendo learned with their Gamecube. You should change the world of gaming when you make a console and this is exactly what the Rev is doing. I think you could even put the Rev in a world of it's own.
I'm sure I could think of more. Nevertheless, I think this is reason enough that The Revolution is not going to be a flop. There are just far too many reasons why it isn't going to.

Re: What if Revolution fails?

Well, Nintendo always come back. Example - Virtual Boy, the most disgraceful games console ever to hit planet Earth didn't sell that much and was a hazard to children below the age of 7 . But Nintendo came back with one of the best consoles ever, the Nintendo 64. So, Nintendo will probably rise again if the Revolution turns out to be a big loser (unlikely). Oh yeah, to play Zelda with their cool new controller / remote, you could fling it around to perform sword attacks (just don't let go; you will regret it).
