Yes I love both of them. All the battles are good the graphics in both games are great. And it was my first RPG too.

Re: Is Paper Mario a good game?

Depends which Paper Mario. Both of them are excellent games, that you
should not miss. Paper Mario 64 was the better one though, but
Thousand-Year Door was still awesome, nonetheless.
So to sum up: Yes, you should certainly get Paper Mario.

Re: Is Paper Mario a good game?

Definitely worth buying, I own both versions of Paper Mario, what I liked about the second one was the pit of a thousand trials, and being able to fold into different forms. I think The Thousand Year door is slightly better, the graphics are good, and I liked the story. Good games.

Re: Is Paper Mario a good game?

Both are great, but the Gamecube sequel had some of the best dialogue in a game ever. Seriously, parts of it had me on the floor laughing, because you could see the translators were having a lot of fun doing it.

I'm still playing through the first one, but I certainly enjoy it so far.

Re: Is Paper Mario a good game?

Heres a review I did of it a while ago:

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

The sequel to Paper Mario for the N64 is definitely a worthy one. A Nintendo classic that’s bright, fun and humorous. A big, Mario RPG with a Nintendo twist. You’ll love it!

Graphics: 8/10: I would say the graphics are very opinion based – so its hard for me to review over the graphics. The game is a mix between 2-d and 3-d, you can walk in all directions but it’s still not fully 3-d. As the title might suggest; the characters a made of paper. It’s a blast to control Mario around, when you first get control of him – you’ll probably laugh out loud when you find you’re controlling a piece of paper. The graphics are clear and detailed with pin sharp edges to the characters. Overall, the graphics are stunning. There bold, beautiful and frequently comical. You just have to love them!

Sound/Music: 7/10: Full of rather annoying beeps, and all very retro. Some tunes are catchy, but some are annoying. But, sticking to the RPG rules; its got dramatic and sad music as well – but in a milder way. Most of the time it sounds like your in a theme park, minus the screaming. Some tunes will stick in your head, but only the ones that seem to repeat themselves over and over. But music’s hardly a bad point in the game – just it’s the worst point in the game.

Gameplay: 10/10: A array of wonderful characters, fun all the way through, hilarious dialogue, puzzles, mini games, exploring – it’s got everything an RPG needs, and much more. The battles have to be the best RPG battles ever, there not slow and boring – it’s fun, quick and witty. So many attacks and items to blast at your enemies, and upgrades and special moves, the battles never get boring. Yet, it seems to have a platforming element to it. This makes it even more different, than your usual RPG. You can use clever paper tricks, such as turning into a plane or boat – or even rolling yourself up. When your not investigating a gripping story, exploring or battling – your platforming. Although the basic shell of the storyline is quite mediocre, the inner is funny and interesting. I’d give you an example, but I shouldn’t put any spoilers in here. Overall, it breathes new life into stale RPG battles and the exploring is excellent, too.

Life Span: 40 – 50 hours. Its surprisingly gigantic. The numerous side-quests devour all the time you have.

Final Score: 92%: A bonna-fide Mario classic that weaves a cracking story around beautiful locations and really gets you involved in the battles. It makes you forget your even playing a RPG.

Re: Is Paper Mario a good game?

Both of them SUCKED in my oppinion, but then again it could just be the fact that they could have been made better. And for all of you who love Thousand Year Door, I have a question have you ever said "Rawk Hawk"'s name aloud and sorta fast, if not, do it now, if that aint subliminal messaging, I dunno what is! 40-50 Hours my ass more like 10-20!

Uh, it is 40-50 hours. I reallt don't see why you think they sucked.
I personally adored The Thousand Year Door. Which is the one I played.
Fair enough if you don't like it, but thats probably because you don't like its style.
But you can't go far enough to say it SUCKED. Thats just not true... sheesh.

Any chance you could give us some valid reasons of how they could have been made better?
It took me about 30 hours to complete it and I didn't do some of the sidequests. If you completed it 10-20 hours you must have pelted through it without doing any of the sidequests.

Anyway, it is my deepest regret that I never got to play the N64 Paper Mario. It's on the top of the list of my Rev download games. However, I have to say that TTD is one of my favorite Cube games and one of the greatest RPGs ever made and I'm a pretty big RPG fan if I do say so myself. The dialogue is absolutly hilarious. In my opinion, it's an essential Cube purchase.

Dude this is my oppinion, I can say it sucked if I think it sucked. Argue all you ****ing want, it will not do ****. It's not like I'll be like "Ohh, my god what have I said, I have seen the error of my ways this game is suddenly awsome now," In your eyes it was good, in mine, it sucked, the person said they wanted an oppinion of the game not if you have nothing good to say about the game don't say it. I gave my oppinion. ****ing Nazi.

I doubt that thing about Rawk Hawk is subliminal messaging.

Uh I've never played Paper Mario, but TTYD is an awesome game, it may be a bit short though if you don't take your time to properlly enjoy it and all it's sidequests.
