Why do people like GTA?

I agree with Van-X..
it's not a good game at all.
and it definitely sets a bad example for younger children...and I know a few that has it that are in an early age...not good at all.
I don't think it should've ever been made.

I don't know what to say. I am completely shocked that someone would say that about something they haven't taken the time to enjoy. You can go stand in the corner with the people who didn't play Wind Waker because of it's graphics.

They chose to buy the game. It isn't the game's fault. Games are always innocent. It's the ones who chose to buy it, to play it, that are at fault here. In this case, the ones that you know who have the game and are in early ages are the ones that should be punished. Games are always the scapegoat here, it's sad, really.

Violent video games are not "stress-relievers," they actually increase aggresion in all those that play it. Consult any psychology textbook on this matter. Whether this agressiveness is temporary or whether it has a permanent influence on behaviour is debatable, but I wouldn't waste my money on GTA garbage when there is so many other good non-violent games to play.

And it is funny how people always want games to be more realistic (as in wanting more gore or freedom), but are never willing to pay the realistic price for the things they do in these

GTA is fun because you basicly can do what ever you want without dire conciquences. I plan to make a school/kid version when I am alot older and and it will have alot more freedom.

That's not entirely true. There has been no obvious evidence to prove that violent video games have a negative impact on teens. There are so many variables out there and "Rival Plausible Explanations" that no scientist has yet been able to prove such claim.

Rather than to say "aggression", many players simply become "frustrated" when they lose a match in any given game. And I believe this is where people mixed up between simply a "frustrating experience" with "anti-social behaviour".

If by "consult" you mean "briefly skimming to specifically prove that violent media leads to increased agression."

Violent games do both: Gaming as a whole lends itself to maladaptive tendencies (i.e. requiring play to relieve stress related to addiction), and even for those that haven't reached that stage, can still provide relief. Games like GTA in particular with their incremental reward systems match the reward practices hammered into our heads since childbirth. If games only made us aggressive, we wouldn't partake of them: Aggression in itself is just a means to an ends.

When you need to take out your anger on something GTA is one of the best games to turn to cuz you can take out your anger on that rich guy strolling down the street with your baseball bat. I play it because I like the mafia idea and I like running from the cops too....guess that's why I like NFSMW so much.......

People don't seem to like playing it as a game though, instead they go play the game to specificaly kill and do other inapropriate acts upon non-human people. That can make GTA a very dangerous game, in way, so it is parcially true. But from my gamer vision I played #3 and Vice and didn't much like it... no... let me refraze that... I want my money back.

Venting anger that way is known as "catharsis." It doesn't work. Read Myers 7th edition in Modules chapter 39 section "Anger." Or just look it up on the internet from a credible source.

Now I don't think GTA is a bad game. Back in the day I played #3 at a friends house. I'm just not comfortable playing something so immoral (in my opinion).

I don't like it at all. The sense of freedom allows players too not focus on the missions at all
meaning it'll be pointless but fun,but again thats just me.
Many players love it because of all the violence.
