Ok here they are, two of the most perfectly done action games of all time, but which one's better?
I honestly love both and even thou if I had to choose I would stay with Devil May Cry, it would still be a tough choice. In my opinion these two are the best action adventure games ever, if you love action, gore and lots of blood here is the place to go. What do you guys think of these great games? and who do you think is better? Dante or Kratos? Who would win in a fight? me? I think it would be a really tight match.

Re: Devil May Cry v.s God Of War (The Angry Gamer's Thread)
I've been a huge fan of Devil May Cry ever since it came out. Along with Jak and Daxter it was actually the first PS2 game I ever owned so I kind of have a soft spot for it. However, God of War blew me away when I bought it a few months ago. It's simply a perfectly made genre defining game that looks great, has a great story and plays perfectly. Although it pains me to say it, God of War has stolen Devil May Cry's crown for best action game.
But who would win in a fight out of Dante and Kratos? I'd have to say Dante, because he could shoot him....

Re: Devil May Cry v.s God Of War (The Angry Gamer's Thread)
Personally, I love both games very much along with Ninja Gaiden for being the best damn action adventure games ever. But I have to say that Devil May Cry is the true king. Although Devil May Cry 2 sucked, the first and the third are both forces to be reckoned with. God of War had a better epic feel, with the environments and the music well suited for that kind of feeling that the developers wanted you to feel, but Devil May Cry has the true hyper-action, one-your-toes feel to it with it's dark characters and metal soundtrack. Devil May Cry also has more variety when it comes to fighting, along some of the cool bosses ever. Sure, the Hydra from God of War was cool, but it could only be enjoyed once through.
And DMC3's cutscenes were freakin' awesome, I must say. |

Re: Devil May Cry v.s God Of War (The Angry Gamer's Thread)
As much as I loved God of War, Devil May Cry games (except for the second) always come first in terms of action games. The art, the cinematics, the story, and the gameplay all come together quite nicely. I can't wait to see what it'll look like on the PS3, should Capcom leave it to Sony.
God of War was awesome, but it just felt like...I don't know how to explain it. It was lacking that something that would give it the edge over Devil May Cry, despite its unique battle system. |

Re: Devil May Cry v.s God Of War (The Angry Gamer's Thread)
Well, the combat in God Of war wasn't as complicated as in other games. That could be a good or bad thing, thing depending on who you are. I found the action just as fun as in games like Ninja gaidan, my main gripe with God Of war was the lack of bosses, and the three they had weren't very good.

Quote:
It had a nice twist using the Greek mythology a different way. GoW definately needs to be made into a franchise, that game has a lot of potential to build upon. Next-gen one will be made even better. |
