it's still pretty rare, seeing as how they're a very nice item. you have to be in last place, or close to get them.

That's the only one thing that I really hate in this game. The stupid chances of getting an item each kart has. A lot of the times I'll be in first place and go through the whole race with nothing other than bannana.

Thats what the "Item" stat on your kart is for. The higher it is, the better chance of getting a decent item. I just found that out.

Yes, but that isn't the only factor. Which position you're in in the race will also determine which items you'll get. In first place you're not going to get a mushroom... not matter how hard you try, nor will you get a triple shell, or a golden mushroom or anything that will propell you further ahead.

What you wanna do is when you get something good like that don't use it until your on the last lap and closer to your opponints, use the boost on the 3rd lap right near the finish line and pass them for the win. If you do it before the 3rd lap or before your close to the end they could get a good item and knock you back, but they can't do that if the race is over!

Re: Official Wii/Friend Code Thread

I'm in the mood for some ZU Online races. Anyone else? I haven't been able to play online for nearly a week and now I finally can, excellent. If anyone is interested in playing tonight fill me in through PM's or whatever.

Back on topic with friend codes: I've started getting a lot of people from my school to give me their friend codes. I was surprised by the number of people that do indeed have this game. Still loving it!

Re: Official Wii/Friend Code Thread

OK. I just got Mario Kart DS and got online (Though I went to my local McDonalds just to see how the online was like), and though I have a wireless connection in my house, it might take me awhile to get on seeing how I've heard it's pretty hard without the Nintendo Wi-Fi router.

Anyway, my friend code for Mario Kart DS is:

017239
732485

Anyway, I hope I'll be on soon.

Awesome. Glad to have another ZUer on board for some online gaming. I added you to the front page and I'm in the process of adding you to my DS. So you played in McDonalds, eh? How was it, what was it like. I'm sure the connection was flawless.

Re: Official Wii/Friend Code Thread

Well, my first time with WFC was tonight. I just spent a half-hour out in the freezing rain on my neighbor's front porch (I got his permission first, though) playing Mario Kart DS and losing. Now I'm like mad sick with a heaving cough. It was worth it though. I just can't wait until my USB connector comes in or I go to my aunt's house this weekend, because she has a wireless router.

Yeah, the connection was awesome. I did not lag once or get disconnected, which is pretty nice considering that I'm used to it when I play online with satellite (The only high-speed internet service we can get because of where we live)

Though it was slightly embarrassing playing at a McDonalds, seeing as I got quite a few looks. (I'm 16, if that tells you anything) But I sat as far away as I could in a corner where nobody was, so it wasn't too bad.

Edit: OK. I got my Wi-Fi home connection to work, but since my internet's so bad, I'm having a hard time participating in races. I was about to race Sizzlin (Which I was looking forward to, by the way) got to the staring line, and froze for a few seconds and then, disconnected me. Stupid slow unstable satellite. Anyway, if you get into a game and I suddenly get knocked off, then that's why. Guess I'll have to make frequent trips to McDonalds then (I really wish they had another DS hotspot that is free besides McDonalds)

Yeah I was basiclly ready to lap you on Yoshi Circuit...kinda strange how it suddenly freezes when I'm ahead of both Ninboy and Link_315.

Conspiracy.

Feel lucky that you actually got to race though. Everytime I would play on my home connection, it would freeze up just right before the race. It's extremly agitating that I have to put up with sub-par high speed internet. Though the only thing saving it is that my dad's office has Wi-Fi and it's DSL.

So, I'll most likely only be on during the day at odd hours and occasionally on the weekends when I'm at my dad's office.

Re: Official Wii/Friend Code Thread

Haha. It's fine.

So what's everyone's current online record? Mines 75-21. I'm kinda dissapointed with my record simply all my losses come from stupid one on one matches. I hate when people disconnect, I get really riled. I've already whipped my DS against the couch which caused it to bounce right back and landed on a table making a loud thud. Wasn't good....luckily my DS was fine.

this is a quick note. I share my ds with nes speedrunner, who lives a few doors down from me so 99.9% of the time you will probably be racing me, not nes speedrunnner
