Gameshark trouble

My gameshark has always gave me trouble since when I first bought it about, let's say, 4 or 5 years ago. I couldn't get codes to work that weren't already programmed in to the gameshark and sometimes I even had trouble for it to come up on the screen. I felt like I wasted $50 (which I probably did). Now, today I wanted to try the Arwing in OoT code so I whipped out my GS but it wont start up at all. I can't find the manual or anything for it and I tried to look up the problem but I can't find anything. If any of you GS pros can help me it would be greatly appreciated. In case you need to know its version 3.2.
