The Price of Gaming

PSP - $350
Ninrev - $200
Used psp game - $49.99
Used ninrev game - $29.99
Sony reducing the costs of all their games and stations - Priceless

this is crazy, if the ninrev costs less then PSP, im going to laugh. My dad's girlfriend's son bought a used videogame it was like midnight club 3, it was 50 bucks. Used. how much is a goddamned new PSP video game? if nintendo releases new games at $50, and stations at 250, and sony at who knows how high of games and 300-450 dollar stations, will this drop the Sony fans down by the thousands? discuss it :O!

if this should go in general gaming, please move it

Re: The Price of Gaming

nope because when sony will release a price all of the sony fans will stop buying any game to make sure they can buy the next sony system and brag that it's better than the others. The funny thing will be that they wont have any money to buy games because the spent it all on the ps3 hahahah.

Re: The Price of Gaming

yes, sony is way overpriced. PS3X (or whatever itll be called) will be about as much as a computer. Nintendo has barely overpriced their controls, let alone the games and systems themselves.

Re: The Price of Gaming

Prices don't matter to me. If the game is good, it's good, why should money matter if it's worth it in the end?

This thread reeks of bias. Sony knows what they're doing. If they see Revolution doing better than PS3, I think they'll do something about it.

Right. First of all, it would be a good thing if you know what the heck you're talking about.

PSPs are $250 NEW. Not $350. NEW PSP games are based around $40-$50. Not $50 USED. Same as the DS's games run at $30-$40. Not $30 USED.

And just to prove my point: PSP Price
PSP Game $40
$40 DS Game

And since when do we know the pricing of the Revolution games and hardware? Hmm?

And Sony has already announced that it can be used as a Linux computer.

That wording seems really odd to me for some reason. Specifically, the entertainment is the price? *shrug*

Anyway, I sort of agree on the principle that time enjoyed is not wasted. But often, I find myself stuck with game that is not entertaining(that was the case for nearly all the games I bought for my Gamecube). So I think regardless, you may have to well, be more wary of spending now. Now, I'm not sure these prices are the actual confirmed/estimated ones(my disagreeing budget is really the reason why I loathe reseraching this kind of news)-- but PSP games are really well, steep for the lack of a better word. I heard somewhere that somebody from one of those companies(I think it was Sony), that they really expect people to get second jobs to make up for this. Now, I'm not sure what other people's end result is, but that makes me laugh.
Well, I think I'll stick with online gaming, really-- I don't see the console progression. Maybe it does offer some advantages-- but when you see a computer, you have a huge mass media/entertainment center that is ultimately going to replace the console.

Well PS3 may be a bit pricy but your paying the most for the most powerful system (not counting PC) It may be overpriced but people still buy it, plus there are alot of good titles coming to PS3. Nintendo usually doesn't overprice beacause of the way they buy, they invest and buy in bulks early so it doesn't cost them much.

Not really, it all depends on how many people were working on the project, how much the budget was, and what media format their developing on.

I see where you're coming from but the point is that you're not going to like every video game on a console system. Maybe you could rent it, but the cost of it is such a huge leap from the standard $50 that I'm sure you're going to have be more careful. That being said, you'll have to considerably spend less unless money is of no concern to you(I'm sure that this is not the case for many, if not all of us). A regular PSP game is in the range of five current console games out there. Thinking of that, I'm getting some second thoughts. What if the features don't deliver and the like? Certain games cost low for a reason-- such as different marketing and work made into game-- example would be a toddler game. That's an accurate measure of value-- but when you have five times that many...ugh, I'm not sure where I'm going. It's rather hard to put into words.

Re: The Price of Gaming

Sony may lose a few potential launch sales with such a high price, but selling it for any less wouldn't earn them a profit. Considering how well the PS2 did not only during launch, but throughout time, I'm willing to wager that regardless of the monolith pricetag, the PS3 will sell out it's launch stock within a matter of days and will continue to sell like hotcakes until the next generation of consoles is released years later.

My opinion? Stop complaining.

Okay, it's obvious I'm causing confusion of what I mean, so I'll just quote this:

That's what I mean. Prices don't matter, rent it, do all that and the like. If it's awesome, buy it. If it's not, don't. Simple as that.

It's not as simple as that. Even if the game is awesome, that's still $80 a shot. You finally save up for the game, you purchase it, and a new super amazing one comes out. Then you start the whole thing over.
Now I'm hoping Nintendo will fix this problem and lower prices, hey, that's what they're known for....Thank you Player's Choice!
