Biggest disappointments

What games were the most disappointing to you(explain why)? I think they are:

Halo 2: Halo 2 was a disappointment because it didnt live up to its hype. The thing that disappointed me the most though was the fact that you didnt spend much time fighting on earth.

Rome total war: Rome total war promised way to much and like halo didnt live up to its hype. It was historically inaccurate(extremely), Rome was way to powerful(WAY), Altohugh you were supposed to have over 30000 troops on the battlefield even a high end system had a hard time handling 8000, and finally it was supposed to very moddable but it wasnt.

anyway, what would you say are the greatest disappointments in gaming history?

Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty — a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of painting or music, yet sublimely pure, and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show. The true spirit of delight, the exaltation, the sense of being more than Man, which is the touchstone of the highest excellence, is to be found in mathematics as surely as poetry.

(Of course unlike math poetry is useless)

Fable. It was touted by its creator as the "best RPG ever," and turned out the only thing that set it apart was the choices you could make. It was fairly linear story-wise and really short.

Star Fox Assault.

My rather lengthy(by my standards) vent against that delayed title shown below. Allow with my resentment of Adventures.

But yeah, looking back, the concept sounds incredibly silly now. While the adventure engine added wasn't too terrible, simply the thought of slapping Fox in it was a shame. And a crime from our beloved Rare, of all people. While the Arwing levels were fun, it only seemed like a cruel device to tantalize our desire for more of them only to end up with Fox wandering around with a dinosaur sniffing and digging random stuff up. And while Fox plays "master" and kills jumping mushrooms for him to eat while hunting for floating blue heads and then meeting our blue furry love interest. Okay, maybe you can add an arc for this out of a ...say a game based on Fox in a series of missions, even that would have been better but to base the whole game on Dinosaur Planet, just seemed utterly wrong. It was a very cheap, low blow to the series while its mechanics, although well meaning did not feel Star Fox at all. And while I think some of us are divided between it, I felt that was a dark day in history.

Okay. The Gamecube was in its waning days and of course, there's a chance to recuperate from this mess that Rare has thrown at us(probably as its last great retribution against Nintendo), isn't there? Okay, let's give it to our friend Namco. So you have a good template-- many fans are expecting it to be a return to the old high flying, high intensity, intenstine exploding fare of the olden days, right. No, they have to dismiss the idea in their big stubborn heads and add-- foot levels where Fox takes forever to get anywhere while shooting his little lazer at ...spiders named Aparoids? Give them a mutiplayer. And oh yeah, throw in Krystal with a half assed attempt at acheiving a British accent while stripping the Arwing engine of its numerous upgrades and oh-so-great smart bombs, at least in appearence. Give a new nasal toned Slippy and less than macho/badass Falco and that is basically how I would sum where it has gone. Most of our beloved supporting characters have gone, haven't they? Even General Pepper looks like a damn zombie. And as I have said, Namco had a great template in front of their faces but refused to follow it. When will we get our fabled full length games with those awesome rail levels? Well, there's always next generation, isn't there?

Re: Biggest disappointments

Fable was a good game, just too linear, and a bit too short. Molyneux didn't live up to his word. I was also slightly disappointed by it.
