And So The Revolution Approaches...
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it seems that tomorrow will be the day when, after a hell of a lot of waiting, the Revolution's elusive controller will finally be revealed to the anxious gaming world. In this time, I have decided to make this thread in which you can all post your views on the Revolution and its ever mysterious controller. Maybe together we can crack the code before the "official" revelation at TGS tomorrow. WARNING: THIS THREAD IS NOT MEANT FOR DISCUSSION ABOUT WHETHER YOU THINK THE REV WILL BE UNVEILED AT TGS TOMORROW....because this is an almost DEAD CERTAINTY. If you don't know why, ask me or refer to threads which reveal as much.
Are you scared about it? Worried? Or do you feel it will truly live up to its name? As for the controller, what will it be like? Gyroscopic? VR, a la Nintendo ON? Or overly simplistic? Also, any thoughts about Mario 128? Do you think that, since this has been anounced for REV and has been labeled as revolutionary ever since its conception, it assures the console's brilliance? And now, the pieces in the REV "puzzle", gathered here just for you: "It will cause a gaming revolution" Satoru Iwata, E3 2004 "The time when horsepower alone made a difference is over" Satoru Iwata, E3 2004 We have no intention of making a two screen console akin to the [Nintendo] DS." Satoru Iwata We currently have no idea of its technical specs, but it will at least be more powerful than GC. However, if what Nintendo says is true, that doesn't matter. Not a lot happened after this, until, as E3 2005 grew closer, this appeared: http://cube.ign.com/articles/613/613578p1.html The Nintendo ON mockup, listedon IGN as a must see. Fake? Probably. But the interesting thing is that it features the same Metroid Prime 3 clip as shown at E3. Freaky, no? Then, speculation higher than ever, E3 arrived. The console itself was shown, but no controller. Some interesting quotes from the show: "When you turn on Revolution and see the graphics, you will say 'wow!'" S.I. ( a contradiction ) "Miyamoto is challenging his teams to create something new." S.I. "Big idea can prevail over big budget." S.I. The console is revealed to be able to download and play 20 years of Nintendo content. Big. It will also be online. "We did not invent the online market, but we do intend to re-invent it" "We will attract casual gamers using consumer friendly content control and internet. And we will even draw non-gamers to our Revolution showing them how much fun there is and what we all do already. We call this 'all-access gaming.'" S.I. Reggie, in several interviews, confirms the ON video a fake. He also says that people should think about how the controller will be able to play all Nintendo games. Intreaging.... Finally, this recent radio interview with Miyamoto: Why wait so long to release a new installment of Mario? The wait is frustrating players everywhere... Mario is and always has been a concept title from his birth. We are always looking for new ways of playing with him, manipulating him, to create something new and unique. We're in the midst of preparing something special for his future, something never before seen. You'll understand when you see it that we can't quite release it right away. The new Mario game will surprise many people. Give us the benefit of the doubt. I think we'll present you with a new way to have fun. There's even a new character by his side. Mario 128 will be released for Revolution then? Yes, of course! It's no surprise, but of course we will rename it, obviously. That won't be the only surprise of next year though. We based the Revolution around this new type of game. Mario 128 played a large role in the Revolution's conception, much like Mario 64 in it's time. But we won't just be focusing on Mario. We're working on some very impressive games which push interactivity to the max. Games of a new era. The new Zelda, it's not really good news that... Please allow me to interrupt you by saying that you will have to be patient, really. This will be, without a doubt, the last Zelda game as you know it in its present form. I worked on it personally, moreso than Wind Waker! I haven't invested as much into any game as I have this one. Our goal was to make the best Zelda game ever. The most rich/satisfying and melancholy. We've really improved it in just a few months. Everything's coming together much quicker. We may have some last minute ideas... You're going to move it to Revolution? No, it is a Gamecube title. In any case, you want to preserve the air of mystery around Nintendo? We will be revealing many details soon. It's true, we do like surprises (laughs). While our gamers are sleeping, we're busy thinking up new ideas. But while they're playing - we're playing as well. So there you have it. Everything we know. Now its over to YOU. |

Re: And So The Revolution Approaches...
I'm a bit worried, will Nintendo be able to pull it off?
Will it be enough to sell the revolution? will it feel natural playing with it? Im sure these are questions a lot of people want the answers to. COME ON NINTY! Do your stuff. |

Re: And So The Revolution Approaches...
Oh yeah! The Revolution controller will indeed be unveiled in a matter of hours. I'm incredibly excited, but at the same time a bit worried that the Big N will dissapoint. No matter what the controller's function is, I'm gonna get the Rev anyway. But still...after such a long wait I'd like to be blown away.

Re: And So The Revolution Approaches...
I stand by Nintendo, come what may. If they say it will revolutionalize gaming, then I believe them. It's that simple.

I'm not really getting my hopes up for several reasons. Nintendo's in a very weird direction right now and I'm kind of worried about how experimental they want to get with themselves. The idea of a "revolutionized market" is comforting, but I doubt Nintendo can execute it(they have the ideas but always manage to botch it up at the end from what I have seen). I just hope the controller isn't based on a moderately, almost novelty type of concept that will probably not live lnog as a core feature, refering to the touch thing(at least it seems like-- sorry it's a sort of bias, as I have not tried it). At least they're bold little guys. I'll give them that. |

That's proof enough that it's a fake.

Re: And So The Revolution Approaches...
I have too many other things to worry about to get my hopes up on the revolution. college life is enough, sure, it would be great for nintendo to finally reveal the revo, but for me, life is enough. Now excuse me while I go get drunk.
