Memory Card or Game?(GCN)

I've got a problem:two days ago,I got a game from Gamestop(The Lord of the Rings:Return of the King)and I got really far on the first day. Then I come back,and the guy I used was put back to lvl. 3! Everything else was the same,and every time I do something with that person,it erases itself. I still have time to exchange the game,but what if it's the memory card? So basically,this is the question: Should I exchange the game,or get a new memory card(I'm hoping to exchange the game).

It depends. I'd trade the memory card if I were you. It seems to be what is erasing your data.

you should try borrowing somone elses mem-card, and see if it still erases the data. if it still does then i'd say it's the game.. you could trade it in.

And even if it is the memcard, i dont know if you could trade in the card to gamestop. so i'd say trade in what you can to see if that helps. and if it doesn't, get a new card.

Is there sticker residue on the card? This happens with my oldest one.

You should try using the official brand when it comes to memory cards. Mat Catz is the most horrible third party brand ever. Their memory cards malfunction all the time. I'm guessing that's what you have.

Sounds like yours was shorted out and won't take any more saves. This happens when you take out your card when it is saving or you have a power surge. (Or it is humid, since moister can short out anything electronic.)

I never had any problems with my cards and I have two offical Nintendo ones and one huge one by some 3rd party. I agree with everyone else, your best bet is to save to a different card and see what happens.

Weird, try taking better care of your memory cards, those are usually really durable.

Otherwise, it's just random forces that are best left unexplained.
