NintendCats!!

Just found out that Nintendo are considering making a Nintendcats! read on for this inteview i found.....

In a recent interview by Eurogamer, Hideki Konno was asked: why puppies? However, It seems that Nintendo were indeed at one point seriously considering what would be better out of Nintendogs or Nintencats. Here is the interview below.

Eurogamer: So what came first - the idea of doing a pet sim, or the idea of creating a killer app for the Nintendo DS?

Hideki Konno: Actually, the original idea was to make software dealing with various types of animals for consoles, and we were doing a number of different experiments based around this. Then Nintendo DS hardware development project began, and once we realised the DS was going to feature the dual screens, touch screen, microphone and wireless capability, we decided to make the software for the DS. We saw that by making use of the DS's unique functionalities, we could make a game based around puppies, and that it could be a lot of fun.

Eurogamer: You mentioned there that you were looking at other types of animals... Why did you pick puppies in the end?

Hideki Konno: We narrowed down the candidates into dogs and cats - after all, they are the two main types of companion animals loved by people all around the world. Why dogs instead of cats? Well, one of the things we really wanted to do was to let players teach tricks by utilising their own voices. Cats are at a disadvantage when it comes to learning tricks, and also we wanted to have animals with much more fun-loving natures - we wanted the animals to be able to take part in contests, such as agility competitions, and we wanted people to be able to take their pets for a walk. So we decided that dogs were more preferable than cats when it came to realising those elements.

Eurogamer: Hmm... So does that mean you have no plans to do another version of the game which features cats?

Hideki Konno: Actually we are not excluding the possibility of developing games based on other animals. Now, with the success of Nintendogs in Japan, we are considering other options.

Eurogamer: So, er, Nintencats is a real possibility then?

Hideki Konno: To tell the truth, we were already starting to develop a cat-based game at the outset of this project. So we already have the cat models, voice data and so on.

Eurogamer: All righty then... When do you reckon we can expect Nintencats?

Hideki Konno: Give me more time to review the possibilities! With all the work already put into Nintencats, it would seem it is a possibility that we may see a Nintencats in the future!

Please break the changing of person who speaks into a new alinea, this is hard to read. This also means we can expect a pet sim or the like for the Revolution.

Maybe, just maybe, we'll get a special controller that has voice control and works like a tablet, would be very cool.

Right, except that you missed two lines. ^_^ Interesting interview, though. I'm more of a cat person myself, though the puppies are kind of cute. Let's hope Nintendo goes ahead with the idea, eh?

Nintendcats? That would be cool. I could get both games and then be a REAL pet owner! Oh yeah!!! It'd be awesome to see Nintendcats.

Meh, cats are no fun unless you have one. The bond between a cat and it's owner is harder to represent than the bond between an owner and his dog. And besides, I'd rather have more games like Lost in Blue rather than Nintendogs.

I agree, because cats dont really play. Well they do at times but only when they feel like it. They are not hyper and excited like dogs. Cats tend to do as they please. So a virtual cat would probably be boring.

I promise you this game will not come out. First of all "Nintencats" doesn't work for a name. Second of all cats aren't the same as dogs, they wouldn't make a good game (even though I love cats)

Don't count that out just yet. Remember "Waluigi?" Exactly.

Did anyone read the whole interview? first of all most of you are acting as if it's actually confirmed to come out, secondly Hideki Konno states "Cats are at a disadvantage when it comes to learning tricks, and also we wanted to have animals with much more fun-loving natures - we wanted the animals to be able to take part in contests, such as agility competitions, and we wanted people to be able to take their pets for a walk." which shows it will obviously be in a different style to Nintendogs other wise it wouldn't work! and plus he didn't say it will be called Nintencats as such they just refered to it as nintendcats to make it easier. You're right Nintendcats does sound a big crap....

Yeah, watching a cat scratch furniture and ignore you sounds like a great DS game.

Ahh man im sick of theses Nintendogs and now these omg. Can nintendo think of anythink different then this!

I can see why. I could only teach my cat to come when I called her name. My Dog however I taught 8 tricks. I can see why he said 'at a disavantage' for cats.
The Virtual pet sim is now sold with the DS at 199 or 198$.

I think it's a bad idea, actually. Pet simulations have always bored me to the point of wanting to rip my hands off. It took me all of two days to get bored of "Hey You Pikachu" and that thing responded to my screaming at it... I don't think I could take a simulation like Nintendcats.

If it was a kitten it'd work. Kittens are hyper and playful and what not. Grown cats are the ones that are usually laid back.

Yea this is true. But still it is a virtual thing they would get older right? Then leading to a more laid back cat. Witch gets you a boring game.

... Nintencats would sound interesting given a different name, as previously stated. But still, I'd like to try it. I hardly know anything about Nintendogs, let alone have the ability to make predictions about Nintencats. All I know is Nintendogs is a pet sim with dogs in it. That's it. Despire past requests, nobody has cared to enlighten me about it.

What about Nintenimals? Not a game for the DS, but the Revolution! The game would feature pets like cats, dogs, parrots, worms, elephants, sheep, humans, tigers, crows and even apples!

And then each creature would have his own unique system of learning and pet care. Oh how I would love to walk with my cute bee on a string trough a park and then playing 'sting the bad man'. Letting him make loops and learn him to count by buzzing.
And an elephant that you can teach how to forage or throw heavy objects at command at people. Then you can go out walking and flatten cars and screamish people!
Worms are still the best, you can teach them to dig and rob banks and strangle people('s fingers).

And that all with a special controller for the Revolution with a microphone and a tablet with stylus. And maybe even a smell function where a chemical unit recombines it's matter to simulate different smells, like poo!

Ah how a man can dream.

Cats are crappy though, that's only to be used as an example like in the interview, not for a game. But there are still a lot of options for games like this as you can see, the pet simulation games aren't as much developed yet. Nintendogs will probably one of the first advanced pet sim games. Finished one I mean, pointing out B&W2.

It is like raising a little puppy. Just on your DS instead of life. You have to play with it, feed it, and evev pick up after it. It is pretty cool. Its like the old tamagotchi. But better because you can do more with it.
