Cloud vs. Sephiroth. That's so awesome how it ended up with the good guy versus the bad guy of FF7. God, was I surprised that Cloud beat Link, but I'm ever so happy, same with Sephiroth beating Mario. Originally I was going to make a topic on the day Cloud beat Link (y'know, to rub everyone's faces in it ). Share your thoughts on what you think of this summer's contest.

How dare Cloud kick Links a** He needs a rematch how about Zelda and Link out of Wind Waker? LOL

I like Sepiroth more, with the whole genocide stuff. I voted for him.

I am so upset that link lost always down by 2,000 votes exactly or close to it is the same thing for Sephiroth *calms down* It looks like Cloud will win it all *sigh*

I think this is an awesome final bout... almost as cool as Link vs Mario last year

Of course, if Gamefaqs hadn't shown the MUCH less appealing Link in favor of the OoT Link, then Cloud wouldn't be fighting Sephiroth right now...

I Voted for Sephiroth. Clouds ok, but he doesnt compare. Im glad Link lost though, in the sense that its nice it went a different way than last time. And I was really sad when KOS-MOS got DQ'd too.

I don't think Link's appearance would have drastic impact given that most of the votes are coming from obsessive fans of respective franchises, heh.

I'm not terribly surprised that Cloud won, either, given how people have been so inane spamming for votes on both sides. I'm just glad i won't see any more votemongering here.

There's probably an equal amount of people who vote for the character and not their ability. It's the 2000 people who went there and said, "Oh, Cloud vs. Link. Hmm....... Who's stronger?" that made Cloud win.

But Cloud deserved to win. I'm not trying to stir up controversy or anything, but here's the way I see it: Link is an icon, Cloud is a person. Yes, Cloud won in part because he is stronger, but those who have played FF7 know that he is an awesome character also (and those who don't think so are usually just oversimplifying things). Even if they had shown OoT Link, Cloud deserved to win.

BTW, I voted for Cloud, even though Sephy is in my avatar (yeah, Ascius, that isn't a girl, that's Sephiroth), I just though that Cloud was such an awesomely developed character (though Sephiroth is the coolest villain).

An icon?! what are you talikng about. Link is just as much as a person as cloud is! Link is very deep. Each of them. They all have a mysterios past and a desire for the future. Just as cloud.

This is where I would normally go off on an extended rant as to why lack of backstory is more a tool of the indolent than the literate. By now it should be rather redundant though.

Therefore, to be brief: Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and lack of character is simply lack of character. Not having a backstory is not a mark of complex background and character, it's a mark of simply lacking a backstory.

anyway, i think that mainly the cloud "fanboys/girls" voted for him. meh, im playing ff7 now, and cloud is sorta a jerk. lol.

Yes, he is at the beginning, but he gets so much cooler. But I won't spoil anything for you.

And also, there were probably fewer fanboys voting for Cloud than for Link. I could be wrong though, but...
