Why all this anti-rp propaganda?

Excuse me for a few minutes while I go on one of my many video game rants.

Why does almost everyone hate role-players? It seems like a dumb question, but consider for a moment. I used to play WoW (Worlds of Warcraft) but I don't anymore. I'll use this as my first example because it is the most obvious. The game is called a role-playing game, but half the time, the people who accutally role-play are made fun of. That really bugged me, so I quit the game. I used to play Jedi Academy online too, until some frakking jerk started this clan with the sole intent of, and I quote "Purgging the Jedi Academy community of role-players once and for all." His clan attacked my rp sever and massacred everyone there. It was ironically like the epic scene in RotS when Anakin tears apart the Jedi Temple. Some of us put up a good fight, but in the end we were all slaughtered. The sever had no limit as to the number of people who could log on, so it was about 50-60 of them versus 20 or so of us. Whenever we have tired to return to our server, their grunts ae still occupying it. Some creativly demented member of their clan spawned a bunch of rancor npcs that just rip the players to shreads once they spawn. It is the must dishonorable thing I have seen in my entire life, and I'm in a public highschool. My point in all this is... WHEN WILL THE UNJUST HATRED END?! When will these.... jerks.... learn to leave well enough alone. It's bad enough that we try to elininate everything we don't like in the real world.

If you wanna roleplay in WoW, you go to a ROLE PLAYING server. Jedi Academy was made for pure deathmatch battles. I'd like to roleplay once in a while in Jedi Academy/Outcast, and I've done so in the past. Still, it's like a bunch of people running into Unreal Tournament and start roleplaying, standing around crying "LAMER" when they get killed with their lightsabers turned off or when they're typing. People like that ruined the whole community of Jedi Outcast/Academy, and now every single server kicks you for being a "lamer".

When on Internet, you'll meet lots of people including those idiots. I don't think RPG players are that hated. Although it seems like a lot of people are being targeted by anti-rp morons, in reality, they composed up to less than 1% of the gaming population in real life.

Ok most of those people that attacked you are nerds (well maybe nerds, I iwll have to check that one) with no life, no offence to anyone, maybe that game should have safe places for they can't attack your clan, and have sangtioned (sp) battles, anywho there are over 2 million people that play WoW and plently more play other Rpg's.

What? You get made fun of b/c you like role playing game? What the heck is the world coming to. I can almost garuntee that those guys who attacked you were jocks of some sort..jerks..

He's talking about ROLE PLAYING. Not RPGs. You know, those people who like MMORPGs, taking on the ROLE of whatever character they're PLAYING. For example, in FFXI, Taru Tarus act repulsivly cute and like little children. A role player who is a Taru Taru would then do like-wise in all his or her actions and chatting. Another example is the Elvaan race in FFXI. They're known to be haughty and think they are superior to every other race. A role player would act like they're some kind of rice country club citizens, there for, to all the other races.

When I played FFXI, I never really encountered many RPs, though I actually can understand why some people could dislike them. People who care about (hate) RPs any more than that are, I'm sorry to say, retards.

I think it because the sterotype involved. I for example know a few people who live and breath it and have no life. I used to know two people (I dont anymore because they never leave there house and are always playing) who play Everquest and it is their life. I have another friend who is addicted, yes addicted to World Of Warcraft. He spends all his free time playing and has no social life. This is common or atleast I have seen it become more and more common.

I've seen my friends turn into MMORPG obsessed freaks. Now, they rarely go out. And if they do, they have to hurry back home to play some more.

Yeah, its sterotype. Ever watch those old TV shows depicting zit infested young men snorting and eating stuff from their noses-- while playing Dungeons and Dragons? Allright, a little harsh but that's the essential structure of a cruel sterotype right there. Same goes for racial ones and such. And some people just find it funny how they incorporate their roleplaying into their personal lives("I'm going to anathilate you with my +5 Masterwork Frost Sword! Bllagh!"). Ever wonder why drama kids are picked in? Pretty much the same reason with the roleplayers.

Anyways, my point is I wonder myself why so many people (or so many other gamers that I've met) hate RP games. It irritates that hell out of me.

Well just about all of them are the same, no offense because I am a fan of RPGs. But I think that most gamers who hate RPGs are just rednecks who only like sports and racing games.

What? I wasn't responding to that post, I was responding to another post that was talking about RPGs.

Some people hate Role-Playing and others love it. I guess it's just a matter of opinion, like everything on this message board, because it is, in fact, a message board.

If you ask me though I will tell you that MMORPGs are boring and time-consuming.

I don't see what the big problem is about people RPing. If you don't like RPing thats fine, but that doesn't mean you have to go around ruining it for other people who do. I myself, love to RP, and love to play WoW even though I don't have it. It also seems like the people who have no patience, or imagination to think that RPs are boring and pointless, which is not true.

I agree with you 100%!! :mad: Those frackholes should be put to death! Then again, if that were the case, all of humanity should be slaughtered in the most gruesome ways possible. We're all guilty of this type of treatment to some extent. As I always say, "Man fear what he does not understand; what man fears, he destroys." Humans are self-obsessed pigs, and that's all there is to it. Those who deny this fact are only serving to further prove it. But it's not entirely their fault--just mostly. Personally, I strongly dissaprove of homosexual lifestyles, although that's for more of a religious reason than anything else. But I've never mistreated a homosexual, to my recollection. This kind of malicious treatment toward role-players is completely unforgivable! How can someone feel hatred toward another person simply because the other person has a much stronger imagination than they do?! Cowards, they are, to the very pit of their souls!
