N64 controllers

has anyone else had a problem with the N64 controller analog stick? I know that all of them degrade over time and will move without you touching them and it makes it less sensitive. My oldest one is somewhat wobbly, you can shake your controller and it'll move. It doesn't effect my game that much though.

so how wobbly/degraded is your N64 controller's analog stick

Re: N64 controllers

it is just wobbly enough to bother me, i mean, it doesn't effect my game play (except it makes it harder for me to do links "no magic" spin attack) it just bothers me to see it wobbeling!

Re: N64 controllers

Wasn't there any third party controllers that had sticks that were built like newer controller's sticks?

Either way, my controller is still in nice condition, despite some really heavy SSB and Perfect Dark matches.

Re: N64 controllers

Yeah, that happened to me constantly. The N64 just wasn't made to be used. Moving is almost impossible unless you can use the control pad.

We used to have a controller where you had to push so hard to move the character forward it made your thumb hurt...

Re: N64 controllers

The analogue stick became very loose in it's socket, so extra pressure had to be applied.
For some reason, there seened to be abuild-up of white powder near the base of the joystick, which worried me for a while! lol

Re: N64 controllers

my original controller is shot beyond use.... with this wierd crusty build-up around it. It's just a thing that happens with time I guess. I spent too much time playing OoT, Golden Eye, Super Smash, and Mario Party

Re: N64 controllers

I've heard a lot of people over the years complaining about their N64's control stick, whether it was it braking off completely or how it somehow got very loose after awhile. I, myself, have had no problems with any of my controllers, and I still have a working controller that came with my N64.

The one problem that I did have though, was with the A button. So many games made you repeatedly hit A under a certain amount of time to fill a guage or something along those lines. It eventually would become harder to do on that controller, and I would have to use another one.

Re: N64 controllers

Mine got somewhat wobbly and such but it still is in good working conditons. I didnt it play it all that much after awhile so I assume thats why it is in somewhat good condition.

Re: N64 controllers

Actually, when I first had my N64 (Which was a while ago) I thought the controller to be just fine. But one or two of my controller's analogs are a bit messed up to playing SSB.

Re: N64 controllers

I haven't seen a wobbly N64 anolog but my Gamcube anolog has becom so wobbly that I can move it just by blowing on it. My brother doesn't seem to have a problem with it so I said he can have the controller and do whatever he wants with it while I went out and got a wavebird (and it's even the platinum one).

Re: N64 controllers

Yeah. Nintendo controllers aren't terribly known for their durability. The analog stick of one of my N64 controllers isn't very reactive and takes a little extra force to move around, but it's not wobbly. It still works fine though, but it gets a little annoying if you don't apply enough force in the middle of a game.

That also happened to my N64 controller.
However, no wobbliness, as least, none I've noticed. My gamecube controllers, however....
I mean, you'd think that if they made the system itself damn near invincible, they could at least make the controllers last longer!

My N64 has never given me problems and I personally think the N64 is the greatest controller of all time.
