Most Underrated Console

I have always believed that the Sega Sturn was the most overlooked console in history - No sooner was it released here in the UK, it was ddropped by every gaming shop!

It's great graphics system was far superior to the playstation, and was one, if not, the first console to allow manipulation of a 3D plane.

The game, NiGHTS into Dreams was a graphically wonderous game, with a complicated gameplay which added sustainance to the game, and the environments were brilliantly created.

It also was the very first console to feature a seperate, first call AI system, with the introduction of the Pians, which reacted and grew differently, depending on the stimulus given by the gamer.

A console with so much promise, but was completely killed by the Nintendo 64.

Dreamcast. Easy. It was years ahead of it's time, nothing even came close to matching it until the PS2 came out, yet, it was dropped in a matter of years

Damn - I forgot to put that in the poll!

It had near PS2 Graphics, and was the first console in history to use online gaming!
It was also the first console to utilize secondary play modes via the VMU, in which games could be downloaded onto andplayed with, and even served asa trining ground to play with your chao!

What killed it off was the sheer amount of piracy - all it's games were easy to rip, copy, and be given out for free, allowing it's funding to plummet .

Shame - 'twas a truely revolutionary console.

Now I know someone is going to disagree with me but most gamers other than the people here don't rate the GC. Some of it is just fanboyism from over consoles. Now im not sure what spec it has but its lower than xbox and ps2 I think (correct me anyone if im wrong im not good with this stuff) which makes gaming companys back away to over places to make more profit. Its already happening with the revo and that ain't come out yet. But we all know here that its not the specs that are important in some cases its how fun the game is

Also, 8/10 games on the Dreamcast were sports titles.

oh, and the PS2 has a lot lower specs than the GC

No disagreements with me! I just listed the consoles that were the most underated in my opinion!

The GC has far superior specs to the PS2 - but dispite being second in the war withSony and Microsoft, people always stereotype it as 'kiddie' and loose interst as a result.

Dreamcast. Just as it was building up a sick games library, the PS2 hype machine killed it.

Incorrect! It was destroyed by the Playstation and Playstation had better graphics. For the most part.

Dreamcast.
It was beautiful. The graphics awed me when I first saw them, since all I had at the time was a PlayStation and N64, which, to be frank, simply could not compare.
However, it was killed, nay, slaughtered. The PS2 was rabidly successful because it was the cheapest DVD player in Japan when it came out, and the hype circulating prior to its release convinced many people to hold on to their money for a bit longer.
Had the DreamCast played DVD's, it would have made a worldwide killing.

In our current generation, I would have to say Gamecube. Whenever I bring up my system of choice, my peers tend to threaten my manhood and denounce the Cube as a "half assed wanna-be kiddie system" but meh. But yeah, the Dreamcast was terribly underated as well. Wasn't it the first to introduce online gameplay more or less? Poor Sega.

these consoles were before my time, yet I know about them. Try poking around the internet for consoles you have never heard of. I didn't ever know about the sega nomad until I went to google and typed in console database or something like that.

I have another nominee for most underrated console as well, the Sega Nomad, it could play 4 different systems!!!!!!!! (game gear, nomad, genisis, and master system) But you still had to buy an adapter to play some of those consoles

OH YEAH!!!!!! It was ahead of it's time even more so than the dreamcast, It had 24 Bit graphics in an era where 16-bits were still going strong
