Romance in games

Aww, most rpgs have a romance in tow. Which ones are your favorites?
My favourite pairings: Vyse/Aika, Genis/Presea, Lloyd/Colette, Link/Din, Link/Ruto, Link/Medli, Ivan/Sheba, Kalas/Xelha.

And let's not forget the sad love triangle. Two girls, one dimwitted hero, and one relationship will never be. We have had:

Stahn Ailron, Rutee Katrea, Philia Felice (tales of destiny)

Vyse, Aika, Fina (Skies of Arcadia.)

Squall Leonhart, Rinoa Hartilly, Quistis Trepe (Final Fantasy VIII)

Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Aeris Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII, but Aeris solved the problem, by getting herself kebabbed.)

Lloyd Irving, Sheena Fujibiyashi, Colette Brunel (Tales of Symphonia)

Kalas, Xelha, Melodia, Trill. (Baten Kaitos, more like a love square, this one. But I think the last two fancied Kalas fro themselves. But Melodia is way more important them Trill, so you can scratch that one.)

Re: Romance in games

All FFs from 7 on wards have great romance in it.
I also liked Ryudo and Elena in Grandia 2.

Re: Romance in games

Apart from on Final Fantasty X, there was just Tidus and that other girl. No-one else seemed to be after Tidus, but Final Fantasy VII has to have the best romantic story ever!

Oh and what are, pheronomes?

Re: Romance in games

Theres to much romance and stuff today (especilly in films has there been many today without there being a kissing scene?) And in FFX There was wakka and lulu but noten really showed in the story about them bein together until the end I think haven't played it in a while. But the scene with tidus and yuna in macalania well... That was the most romantic thing I've seen in a game lol.

Re: Romance in games

Most RPG's today have a sense of romance. But with an element such as romance, you have to be careful to do it the right way or it can totally flop and make the plot just laughable.

Re: Romance in games

Some rpg heroes have got women (and sometimes men) swarming all over them......

Hero of Time had had:
Zelda, Ruto, Saria, Nabooru, Malon, Cremia and Romani. That's a lotta lady, you'd be spoilt for choice!

While Vyse from Skies of Arcadia has had:
Aika, Fina, Belleza, Bonitta, The Ixa'Ness Demons, Osman and Dakiyoka the Wealthy all make advances or comments.....poor Vyse, after the first four, it all goes downhill.......(shudders at the comments made by Osman and Dakiyoka the Wealthy.)

P.S. Am I the only one who thought Melodia loved Kalas, secretly?

Re: Romance in games

Uhhh.

Tales of Phantasia - Cless/Mint. More or less.
Final Fantasy VII - Cloud/Aeris. You have half of a Mary Sue. Can you guess who is it?

That's all I can pretty much think of right now. I don't exactly see well developed relationships in games. You have to execute it in a certain way or it'll backfire.

Re: Romance in games

The thing is, a lot of games have the characters remaining pretty aloof and mildly liking each other, for the peroid of the game, then at the ending....the floodgates open:

"I have always loved you!
Have we kissed yet?
Dude, no!
Let's kiss!
Let's get married!
Oh yeah!
How many dates have we gone on?
None!
Let's get married anyway, the male lead and female lead in RPGS, are always soulmates! It's meant to be! Let's get married! We know what love is!
How old are we?
16!"

Thus ends the recapped ending to many rpgs.

From Oracle of Seasons. Link had to rescue Din(I don't think its the actual godess, just a dancer by the same name). I guess that sort of created a relationship, more or less.

Re: Romance in games

O.K. Makes sense seeing as how the Oracle games (and tMC) are the only Zelda games I have not played and beaten.

P.S. Her parents must have been obsessed with the actual godess to name her Din lol...

Will you marry me? JUST KIDDING!

I have a special liking for the Joke Relationships. You know, the ones the game makers put in just out of boredom and craziness. I think Cloud and Barrett could lead a wonderful life together!

Same here. Their relationship is much more subtle than most others. A little cliched (princess and thief), but still sweet.

I also like Tidus' and Yuna's romance. There's something about their voices that make me perceive them as younger than they really are, but I can't blame them, because my voice is like that as well. There's a certain exotic feel to their relationship, but I can't say more because I've never played the game myself, only watched someone do so.

Her mum was Lioness. Only joking! Okay, seriously, game romances... not really my specialist subject, but here goes...

Link/Zelda. Nuff said.
Link/Ruto. Yeah, right.

And a triangle now, because I know how much you like those.

Fox/Krystal/Panther (StarFox Assault). Cue the amusing conversation.

Re: Romance in games

I personally have not played many RPGs so I don't understand half of what you're talking about. I always thought Link should be with Zelda, but I guess so does the majority of people. But, here's a list of some other couples I have noticed.

Mario and Peach
Fox McCloud and Krystal.
Samus and Cpt. Falcon (just kidding!)

And that's all I can think of at the moment.
