Alrighty. I was looking at Metroid Prime offical art today and I thought to myself "I really love this offical art! I think it might be my favorite..." Then it occured to me that you guys might have faves to... Now I'm only going to say this because I don't want to get a bunch of "I LUV ZELDA ART!!!!!11!!!one11eleven" Crap... so just keep zelda out of this, pick some other official art you love too, please. ^_^

Mario. The images usually perfectly represent the character they have, and the colors are always very vivid and vibrant. The series is so unique, original, and party-like, so there's a multitude of awesome pictures. There's just endless ways to portray the characters or show them in a different pose

Re: Official Art

Softmax titles. Namely the Magna Carta and War of Genesis III series. The Korean artist Hyung-tae Kim is superior to any other character/concept artist out there. His works are, in one word, perfect.

Fire Emblem has some of my favorite character art as well. I think the artist's name is Kyoko Tsuchiya. I'm not entirely sure. She's a great artist, though.

Then, you know, there's a bunch of others, too. Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fatnasy), Kousuke Fujishima & Mutsumi Inomata (Tales), Takehito Harada (Disgaea, etc.).

Re: Official Art

I said it before, and I'll say it again, Minomata Isumi is my favorite game artist. Her characters are so vivid looking and vibrant, which is refreshing in an age of flat, computor coloured lifeless drawings.

I also loved the artwork for Baten Kaitos. Have you seen the artbook? Gorgy. There was pictures of Melodia floating with Kalas, Xelha daydreaminga about Kalas, and the two of them in the Shrine of Spirits.....

Re: Official Art

Zelda official art is pretty good. I also enjoyed the concept art in Metroid Prime.

The Mario art I like best is the art you get from Paper Mario games.

Umm... I guess it doesn't matter but... did you even read the "leave zelda out" part... because that is the obvious fave of over 3/4s of the forum.

Re: Official Art

Let me start by saying that Tsukasa has my eternal gratitude for introducing me to the absolute perfection that is Hyung-tae Kim. Not only is he by far my favorite game concept artist, he is easily my favorite artist, period.

Though it goes without saying, after that last paragraph, the game with my favorite concept art is War of Genesis III. I've had more avatar from this game then any other single game. I highly suggest looking at the gallery that Tsukasa linked too.

Plenty of other games have good art too, of course. Look at Magna Carta, also done by Hyung-tae Kim:

Once again, it's art can all be found in the gallery that Tsukasa posted.

Disgaea has some fantastic art, by the way. I originally was hooked by Etna's character design, which I love to death, but upon further investigation into the art book and whatnot, I realized that the rest of the art was great too.

The Fire Emblem games, at least since the sixth game, have had absolutely wonderful art too. Probably my second favorite collection of game art, after Hyung-tae Kim's.

Stella Deus is one of those games that I know nothing about, but that I've saved every piece of official art i can find because I love it so much:

(new post to allow more pictures)
For the most part, I find the Suikoden series' art average. But Suikoden 3's stood out; it was an absolutely enormous collection of very good art:

The Warcraft series has always had great art too, though I think it's declined a bit since the Warcraft 2 days:

Re: Official Art

I would say, like so many have said, it would be the Fire Emblem art. Especially, its recent incarnations, namely Path of Raidence and The Sacred Stones.
It has a very good amount of detail and many of the character designs are excellent.

Thanks! I'm happy you think that. Just because I want to keep the conversation going a bit more. Is there any way you could show me good official (and/or concept) art that isn't anime. World of Warcraft wasn't but I'm sure there is more then that, I have to say thogugh, what you did show me was pretty awsome.

I also love the style of the Half-Life 2 art:

Even though... I think that is one of the only OAs for Half Life 2....

and God of Wars art (although being 3D rendered) is beautiful... I'm not sure if this is to gory so I'll just post the link: http://gamescreenshots.gamesurf.tisc...2wp02_1280.jpg

This is Tekken 4... I love this art too...

But those are some other ones I love...

Re: Official Art

I'd say my favourite is the Chrono Trigger art.
Anybody know who did the art for that game? The artist does the art for DBZ and all that stuff, so somebody is bound to know his name.

Re: Official Art

Most of the art I like is anime, simply because I tend to like most styles of anime... but I think I can come up with something.

First of all, the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diabloe games have tons of great art, and most of it is not anime. The Blizzard artists have a very nice website here, which also includes a lot of their original work: http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/

Venus and Braves has some very odd artwork. I suppose it could be consider anime, but not your usual anime. I doubt it's what you're looking for, but I find it very cool:

There isn't that much good official Star Wars art out there, but what is good is fantastic. I love this picture oh so very much:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/10...dscomplete.jpg

To be honest, that's all the games with non-anime artwork I have saved to my comp, aside from some extremely high-rez scans of the Capcom Design Works artbook, but are too large for me to show here. There's some extremely good Street Fighter art out there, if you know where to look.

Yo****aka Amano

Yoji Shinkawa

-My 2 most favourite videogame concept artists, IMO the best of the best. And it's interesting that Shinkawa learned most of what he knows from Amano.

What games did Shinkawa do? I've never heard of him.

Re: Official Art

Yeah, Castlevania art rules. Some nice pictures, by the way, Mirren. Remember when the Merchant had that Dracula pic as his avatar? That was during your time I think, though it was before that of most of the members here.

By the way, I'd suggest finding a different host. I had to copy/paste all the urls to see the pictures.

Re: Official Art

^ Yeah, he had a few Castlevania sigs in his random siggy, nice ones too. Although, I don't quite remember him having a Dracula avy. I remember the orange-one of a crazed dude screaming, unless that was another form of Dracula which I didn't know at the time and forgot about it looked like now.

His most recent sig and avy by fifi of Richter were absolutely stunning

Hm? I didn't host 'em, I took those directly from the Realm of Castlevania...hmmm...

Want me to fix 'em?

Re: Official Art

It doesn't matter to me, but not everyone will be willing to go to the trouble of copying all the URLs. And yeah, I see that you didn't host them... VGmuseum must not like bandwidth leeches, heh.

Does he still have that sig, I wonder? My collection of Castlevania art is very small, actually, because I simply don't know where to go to get it.

Re: Official Art

Fixed them

And no, unfortunetly the sig's no longer there, but he still has the avy. Maybe I could go bother fifi for it...

*is the kind of jack*** that would actually do that*

Oh, and if you ever wanna check out all of the Castlevania Official Art, go here, it's got stuff from every single game. And for some titles like Dracula X, Symphony, LOD, and Lament of Innocence there's a crapload
