Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance PC (DVD) Version Freeze Help

I recently acquired a copy of MGS2:S and had successfully installed it, and had no problems playing it. That is, until I got to the part of the first level on the Boat when you enter the 1st Hold where all the Marines are. At that point, after the cutscene and message from Otacon, the game freezes 2 seconds after the timer starts counting down 7 minutes. I'm using a Nvidia 5200 and I've had no other problems except if I turned the game's resolution way up.

So far I have tried to do the following to fix the freeze, with no results:
-Turn down Hardware Acceleration of the Graphics Card to two setting before Full Acceleration.
-Turned down the Resolution setting to the lowest possible, with 16-bit color as well.
-Playing in Window mode
-changing the Sound Mhz level lower

There are no patches availible for the game to my knowlage except the V2.0 one for ATi cards. Is it my Graphics Card? Is it my settings? Or is it my game?
