Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
I have recently finished Final Fantasy X and loved it. It was a beautiful game that was truly epic in scale and I enjoyed it immensely.
I am aware that it has a sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, but I've read mixed reviews about it. I'm also concerned that it's too girly for an 18 yr. old male (although the female characters are quite attractive, Rikku especially--that's a perk). At this point, it's only $20, and I'm contemplating purchasing it. Is it a good game and is it worth my time and money?

My brother has it. He said it was a decent to good RPG, but not as great as FFX-1.

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
I played it, and liked it quite a bit, but I'm also a 15 year old girl. But, there is the thought that that particular Final Fantasy game has, if I'm correct, 4 different endings. So, there is always trying to get those different endings, which helps if you have a book, but one isn't necissary.
One of my friends played FFX-2 and he's about 19. He did find it a little bit girly, but as far as like girl talk, and all that stuff goes, there isn't much of it. The story line is still strong, and the characters have very interesting pasts, and lives as well. True the whole "outfit" thing is more directed toward girls, but the different costumes did different things, and some were stronger, and that all evens out when you get a sword. So... I'd have to say, if you liked the first one, the second one may not be your favorite game, and you probably won't like it quite as much as the first, but it would be worth your time. You'd probably enjoy it, that'd be my guess anyway.

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
It depends. If you're going into it looking for a serious, melodramatic RPG, then don't bother. It mainly thrives on its humor and fun gameplay instead of deep storyline and such.
It's a really good game, despite the criticism it gets (from people that are probably 12 year old males ashamed of playing a "girly" game, no less). It's more fun than everything, full of mini-games and the like. I'd say it's worth your time and money, if you're willing to invest about 100 hours to it. That's how long it took me to get 100%. The main storyline only runs about 20 hours, though. So yeah, pick it up if you're open-minded and willing to play something meant to be enjoyable rather than intriguing. |

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
I'm a 23-year-old abrasive masculinist. It's girly but I never had a problem. FFX wasn't exactly stuffed with masculinity to begin with.
![]() It's a fun game. Not perfect, but worth trying. The gameplay's pretty fun and much of the game takes place in familiar areas with constant back-references to FFX. The game's biggest problem isn't so much its girliness as its awkward handling of mission and side-branches. Word of advice: Regularly visit and revisit areas at each mission level. The game's harsh for introducing characters in the wrong order, or introducing them then making them disappear, if you don't play in perfect order. I actually found the combat system a lot more fun than FFX's. That and the FFX references sold it for me. |

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
I'm a two year old swallow, and I say get through it just to see the ending. The Battle System change makes it a little harder (Especially Yojimbo @_@), and that, for some reason, makes it less entertaining. Yes, this game is much more "fun" and feminine, but hey, it's all good. Let's just say that most of the story is...well...not really good. Just focus on the ending if you care ^-^;

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
I am a 19 year old dude and I think the game is worth the money. I liked the storyline and such but the only thing I thought was bad was the battling system, I liked the turn based battle system of FFX, thats what I loved most about it. But whether you consider the game to be worth your time is totally up to you in the end.

Re: Is Final Fantasy X-2 worth my time and money?
It is worth the money, it just doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. They ruined Rikku...
It really feels like a game made by men trying to make the game through a girl's view. In X-2 Spira, women rule in the Eternal Calm, and men are their idiot bumbling lackies.
