I heard alot of hype from the company, but when it came to E3 Expo, I didnt see no show. Their link is at www.phantom.net, supposely they have something better to offer than current consoles, what are people's opinions?

Re: Phantom Broadband Service

It doesn't exist, it never has existed, and it never will exist. It's called the Phantom for a reason.

Re: Phantom Broadband Service

So? That doesn't mean anything. I could go create a website right now and say that I'm making a console that can play every game ever made, but that doesn't make it true.

This Phantom bull**** has been floating around the internet for years. It's just not happening. I haven't bothered to check the site very thoroughly, but unless they've completely changed everything that they were promising two years ago, it's all a bunch of crap. Either a hoax, or a terrible failure in the making.

Re: Phantom Broadband Service

Yeah, it's been "coming out soon" for at least two years now. Definately not reality - A lot of different sites have investigated this, and I think most came to the conclusion that it was really just an elaborate hoax.

Who knows, maybe it's a confusing marketing scheme for one of the next gen consoles from either the big N, Sony or Microsoft? Now that would have made it a thoroughly thought through marketing idea

Re: Phantom Broadband Service

That was E3 2004. You can confirm with archive.org's copy from 2004: http://web.archive.org/web/200411180...er/gallery.asp

In a few shots you can also see people carrying slightly older swag. Like an Xbox Live bag.

Hard to say what's going on. I wouldn't be surprised if they're shopping around for a major internet provider to provide backing for their services and fund the company's continued initiatives. They may have already attempted such and failed, though, considering how little we've heard from them recently.
