Metroid Pinball A Sad Reality

In case you haven't heard from other sources a Metroid Pinball game is obviously being made. Its a huge dissapointment for me. I can't believe Nintendo is doing this. Pinball (while fun) isn't what Metroid is about. Thats not why Metroid is so good.

My only hope that this game doesn't come out is that this is an April Fools Day joke. It is close to April. Which is also a good time to keep an eye out on the ZU forums.

Sorry if this is old, or a topic has been made or whatever.

Tell me, why does this disapoint you? I actually think it sounds interesting.

Metroid is a game, as is pinball. There are many many pinball games that are themed off of well known games, such as: pokemon, resident evil, akira, kirby.. geez

Because I don't want Metroid turning into Mario. Now it seems as if Nintendo might start milking the Metroid franchise with spin-offs, just like with Mario. Its just not why Metroid games are so fun. I like exploring new areas and defeating amazing bosses. The Metroid storyline is very good too. How could they incorporate a pinball game into the series storyline? Why would Nintendo spend time on a pinball game when they could be using their time to make another killer Metroid game?

It is just not right to me.

I am a big Metroid Fan (although I never played the first 2 games), and I really agree with you Leo. It would ruin the whole line of Metroid games. I like it because of the action, the new areas, the music especially. The idea for a Pinball game is moronic!

Gerudo's right. As you can probably tell from my name, I am a huge fan of Metroid, owning and having finished all but Metroid 2: The Return of Samus. I know that this pinball game may be crappy, but will you begin hating the series just because of one game? That's just silly! Besides, with the Morph Ball being such an integral part of Metroid, it was inevitable that a game like this would be developed, and I for one think it has the pontential to be quite fun!

Potential to be fun? Please. It's a pinball game. I have never played a good pinball game.

Frankly, I think only Retro Studios should be allowed to make Metroid Games. Period.

People, relax, it's ONE GAME. I could see if they announced this along side with Metroid party and Metroid baseball. But this is just one game that more than likely won't take much to make.

On top of that, it's a pinball game. Lots of series get pinball games and it's NEVER a sign that the series is being milked.

House of the dead got a pinball game. It was insanely fun and it was the only off topic game in the series.

It's as simple as this: Make a pinball game themed after metroid.

If you don't like the idea, don't buy it. That simple.

Frankly, I think only Retro Studios should be allowed to make Metroid Games. Period.

That's narrowminded. For all you know someone just maybe able to do a 3D metroid BETTER than them. It's not like they invented the metroid gameplay anyway.

EDIT: On top of that. It's just a DS game.....that's more than likely meant to take use of the touch screen. Like this is really something to complain about. Dear god. Play hunters.

I never said I would stop playing all Metroid games. I still play Mario games despite having tons of spin-offs. I just don't play the spin-offs.

As for being milked. I'm just worried. I doubt that it actually will get milked, but I don't want to see Metroid get spin-offs. Its just like if they made a Zelda pinball game. Plenty of Zelda fans would know right away that the magic that makes Zelda, Zelda isn't there. Thats how I feel about this game. It doesn't have the Metroid feel to it. Just a theme.

But what ever. Thats how I feel about it. I may change my mind about it some day. But I doubt it. You can like the idea and have fun with the game. But I probably won't.

I think this is utterly stupid! it makes no sense it is like giving mario a gun or samus being a man! but as long as games like hunters keep coming i am happy

It's metroid pinball, it'll take them five seconds to make a fun fairly adictting game. It's not like their making metroid baseball and a bunch of other metroid spin-offs. Right now I don't see much of a problem, it actually looks quite interesting right now.

And you people wonder why I've become disillusioned by Nintendo.

Yeah, Ok, I know you said all of that. I made that clear. But simply giving something a certain theme isn't bad. What you're doing is like a KISS fan complaining about the KISS pinball machine. Or a LOTR fan complaining about the LOTR monopoly.

You need to realize someting: this WON'T be a metroid game. It'll be a pinball game with the metroid theme. That's all. And it's nothing to whine about.

To be honest I never mind spinoff pinball games. They are well priced and good for a quick go everynow and then. And if it is a fantastic pinball game, then at least they aren't deflowering the good name of Samus

But I guess your right. I'm still not so happy about the whole thing. It could turn out to be a good game though. I don't really hate the concept, yet I displike how Nintendo will make an entire game out of it. Why couldn't they just make it an unlockable or extra in MPH?

Hunters sucked, because the controls were absolutely horrendous.

Pinball taking advantage of the touch screen? How do you play pinball? With two buttons. What are you going to do with pinball on the DS; control the ball with the stylus?

I thought MPH had a great control scheme if you choose the right one. I could aim as accurately as I would if I were using a mouse, maybe better.

Maybe the R and L triggers will be used for the flippers. Perhaps the touchscreen won't be used.
