Graphic Cards: PCI (Express) and AGP
Last year, for Final Fantasy XI, I purchased a cheap $120 NVIDIA AGP Graphics card. This summer though, I'm looking to do a major upgrade for Fable: The Lost Chapters and a try at Half-Life 2. It's amazing how fast that card became out dated, so this time I'm looking at This.
My question is, to use this PCI card, would I have to remove the old AGP card, or would they just work with each other?

Re: Graphic Cards: PCI (Express) and AGP
PCI Express cards are an entirely new standard - You need an Intel Express chipset to use one, meaning you need a new motherboard (Which, in turn, could mean you need a new processor and set of RAM as well).

Oh. That sucks. I think I'll just have to stick with this one then.

Anyway, I wanted to get Fable for my Xbox, and then I hear about this "Lost Chapters" update. I've read all about this expansion from IGN and it makes me not want the Xbox version. Won't be getting that one then... Anyone know the requirements?

Re: Graphic Cards: PCI (Express) and AGP
PCI Express is also a lot faster than AGP. If you can spare the money, I'd recommend getting a PCIX chipset. If you're stuck with AGP though, at least shoot for AGP 8X, which is faster than the commonplace AGP 4X.

Re: Graphic Cards: PCI (Express) and AGP
I would reccomend an nVidia Geforce 6 6600 GT. Maybe an ATI Radeon X800 AGP edition. Just look around. I'm guessing you're in the US, so check out www.newegg.com for some good deals on computer stuff. Read reviews and stuff. Also check out bit-tech.net's forum, as I'm sure you'll find something helpful there.
