Game Syndrome
Has anyone out their experianced this phenomenon? Where you play a game for six or more hours straight and then go to bed. Then you go to sleep and start dreaming about the game you played? Many people have dubbed it Halo Syndrome, but I like to be a bit more generic. I recently have.
It happend a few weeks ago when I was spending the night over at a friends house, we had a little Halo party. So we played for about seven hours and then go to sleep around 4:00. So me and my friends start dreaming about Halo, Lockout to be exact(for those of you who dont know its a level in the game). The sad thing is, that I lost in all our dreams, funniest thing was the final kill, I got trapped in a corner and my friend pulls out a sword and kills me. My other friend dreamt the same thing except he said my other friend had two swords. My third friend, the one who killed me didnt dream anything about the swords though.I think its safe to say that Im really bad in Halo, I lost in my own dream. :embrsd:

Re: Game Syndrome
It has happened to me with KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords, The Wind Waker, and other games. Trust me, when I get my hands on a game I really like/want I'll sit and play for 12 hours, it's crazy. Also, Duke Nukem 64 and Perfect Dark along with Goldeneye... I played these games a lot with my friends, back in the good old N64 days.
Let's not forget Pokemon Silver... I played that game continously for a year or more, it was never-ending fun, and no doubt one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Re: Game Syndrome
As much as I love Zelda, I just can't play it for that long. Something weird.
Anyway: Devil May Cry 3, KillSwitch, Perfect Dark, Final Fantasy X, .hack//GAMES, and World of Warcraft. |

Re: Game Syndrome
I forgot to mention Star Wars Galaxies and Runescape... MMORPGs can be really addictive.

Re: Game Syndrome
I don't think you have to play a game for that long, dude. As a kid, I would dream about Sonic an awful lot, and I never played for 6 hours straight. I was too active back then to be concerned with playing games all day.
But yeah, obviously, I've dreamt of games. All kinds of RPG's and action games - too many to name. It's interesting, that's for sure. Especially when the real world elements clash with those of the game.

Re: Game Syndrome
Playing Games for too long, makes me feel lousy. My body tells me to play 2 hours MAX
half 'n' hour MIN. Then If I play for two hours, It has to be atleast 2 hours before I go on. Thats If i had got a new game. I could never play that long just messing about on my old ones. Once I thought I wouldn't really play video games ever. That lasted for about 5 weeks. Quote:

Re: Game Syndrome
Yeah, that happened to me a couple of times. Last time, I believe, a certain celestial body crashed into the town I had just arrived in in some mysterious magical way

As for myself, I had Resident Evil 4 dreams the first couple of days I had it, now I have one every now and then. I've had a couple of Zelda dreams before and a Tales of Symphonia dream.

Re: Game Syndrome
I don't even have to have played the game recently to dream about it. One time I had a very vivid dream that revealed to me the location of the Triforce in OOT. Yes, I did dig out the cartridge that I hadn't played for months. Of course nothing happened.

Re: Game Syndrome
I've never dreamed about games. My dreams are typically a lot more messed up.
Anyways, I do end up getting completely immersed in games, almost feeling like I was in the game. I just completely ignore the outside world playing some games. It's only happened with a select few though, and they were Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Perfect Dark (multiplayer), Halo PC (online matches) and Halo 2's campaign. When I played those games, I was just so into them that I lost track of time real bad. (5 hours felt like 20 minutes) Also, playing games with headphones (if you TV has a headphone jack) just adds to the immersiveness factor, especially so in Halo 2 and Metroid Prime 1 & 2. There are plenty of other games I was really "into," but not nearly as much as the ones listed above. |
