Sprite-based Games
Once upon a time, back when the complex models of our time were only dreams, the simple sprites ruled the realm of electronic entertainment. from the aristocratic 32 bit nobles to the lowly 16 bit (and lower) peasants, they lived together in peace and harmony (sometimes). they were simpler times, times where a character's emotions were limited to the number of sprites made for it, those emotions were even recycled! a surprised emotion could also serve as a sprite for falling! I love sprite based games, they give me that home-like feeling. games like Illusion of Gaia and Chrono Trigger (in my oppinion) are some of the best games in history. some may find that the recycling of sprites for different emotions boring, but I found it intruiging! it showed the character's personality. few characters nowadays are able to maintain a personality because they never keep their actions consistent. how many times a day do you say something like a catch phrase or do something like a uh... catch uh... motion? im just wondering if anyone else shares my passion for sprite based games.
