Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

Yeh...like a film.
My opinion? not as good the original on the PS....a few good additions to it, but the game kinda turned into the matrix, the amount of times that effect was used.
And they changed some of the classical music around.

Still a fricken great game, but I prefer the PS version.

Absolutely loved it. I bought it never having played a Metal Gear Solid game, and was pleasantly suprised. I thought it was a fantastic presentation and the gameplay was pretty cool. The fact that Cam Clarke did two of the voices really strikes good with me, since I'm a big fan of his.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

I liked it, but it was a bit of a letdown. The enviroments did not fit with the A.I.: The hiding places that worked in the orginal didn't work in twin snakes.....and those were the only places there were to hide. And the layouts just don't work right with the gameplay...at all. I could walk into a room and shoot every guard in the head. The bosses were ridiculusly easy. (Except for the tank which is frustratingly hard in twin snakes now for some reason)

Also, the cutscenes were STUPID. Snake back flipping off of a missle does not make sense in Metal Gear. This is NOT devil may cry, dmanit!

Another thing that annoyed me is how nothing new was added save for the MGS2 gameplay. But those changes made thing too easy, too hard or were just useless. (I never used lockers, or the hanging mode, or the jump shooting.)

and no VR missions!? What the hell!?

As a game on it's own, it was great. As a metal gear game, it was mediocre. As a remake, it was horrible.

MGS: Twin Snakes was an awsome game but I played MGS:3 Snake Eater and belive me after that game you'll never go back to Twin Snakes
Shigruo Myamoto & Hideo Kojima are awsome

Haha, this would have something to do with Ryuhei Kitamura (Japan's hottest action movie director at the moment) handling the directing of cinema scenes in the game. Obviously Hideo Kojima thinks differently to you, because he hired Kitamura despite the fact that the guy is well known for his outrageous directing.

I haven't even played Twin Snakes yet so I can't really judge it, but from what I've seen it looks great. I've been meaning to buy it as I love Metal Gear, but I've yet to see a copy on the shelves down here in Australia.

I love MGS, and this game was no exception. Some of the cutscenes were a little over-the-top (I think the backflip tally ended around 7), but I didn't think it took too much away from the game. It's hard to take away from an amazing game like MGS.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

Lol, the backflip rocked, what i never got was

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
How come when meryl is shot by sniper wolf she is shot, then looks at her leg for like 5 seconds, then the blood comes out?

Also, i dont think if mattered if it had options in the game u didint use, its not detracting from the gameplay. The Directing was amazing, they said they wanted to make it with Anime elemnats from the East and modern film techniques from the West.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

It very well would detract from the gameplay. MGS2 had an eviroment layout that forced you to use every technique. Twin snakes just doesn't. It's complete waste of gameplay options. Another problem was that there was almost NOWHERE to hide. If they were going to port the MGS2 gameplay to MGS1, they should've changed the enviroments and bosses to fit the new gameplay. I just would much rather play the orginal version.

An example of how the boss fights lost just about everything that made them good in MGS1 is the fight with Ocelot. You run faster than he does now, and thanks to the lock on I beat him while staying two inches away from him and shooting him every seven seconds. Oh, I could also beat him by standing in one spot.

Oh wait, scartch that, jump shooting is useful....I used it to beat Vulcan Raven....with the SOCOM....without getting hit once. (another example)

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

Sorry, what difficulty are you playing the game on?
Very Easy?
I bet you probably are, everything gets harder and harder to do. Normal is fairly hard, but the Hard difficulty, thats a challenge.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

Seeing as I'm a Metal Gear hardcore, I wasn't able to stomach not beating the game on every difficulty (including extreme). I do that with every metal gear I play. Every setting has that same difficulty inbalance problem becuase of the game design. For exmaple, who else find the first area in this game overly difficult to stay hidden in?

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

Well, yeah, it's not immposible but harder than it should be. I found that to be the hardest area in the game to stay hidden.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

I just bought it yesterday. Heh. Had some spare loot. I still haven't played it, seeing as all the flippin' sweet unlockables from Resident Evil 4 have been keeping me busy for the last couple days. But I'll probably start it today, to see if it is worthy of all the hype these Sony Fanboys give it. I sincerely hope it is, otherwise I'm out 34 bucks. Heh.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes

I played this game for about 4 hours at my friends house, and I just have to say this: what a ****ing disappointment. This game is nothing like the original, the A.I. has some major problems, the controls are way to loose and the overall game feels more like Devil May Cry than Metal Gear Solid. This game is the black sheep of the Solid series.
