Thumbs up The Golden Sun Series

This series just blew me away. The plotline and character development was just awesome. The graphics and soundtrack simply stunned me.

Anyone else enjoy this game^_^?

Re: The Golden Sun Series

By all accounts, I shouldn't have liked these games. The plot was OK at best, the battle graphics were grainy and ugly, the characters were flat and boring, the dialogue was monotonous, most of the music sucked, the battle system was completely unoriginal, random battles are annoying...

The only thing the games really have going for them are their awesome dungeon designs, a small collection of cool art, and the way the magic was integrated with the puzzles.

Yet I loved both of these games nontheless. I guess this is one of those cases where the whole is far greater than the sum of it's parts.

Re: The Golden Sun Series

I loved them both as well, but I voted for The Lost Ages. I loved everything about both of the games and I honestly think they are the only games out there that uses the GBA potential to the fullest. In tLA I especially loved that you could control all eight members from both games in the last battle.

Re: The Golden Sun Series

I liked tLA better, because most of the plot cliff hangers were answered in that one. My only problem with it was the fact that you couldn't revisit places from GS. It sort of screwed with the plot that you couldn't go back to visit your hometown or see Babi(sp) before he died..or something. I had all but 2 djinns. I could have got the last 2. I was just lazy.

I agree with all of yas!! I love the Golden Sun series (note the avvy), it reminds me a lot of the Zelda series, but it's missing something, I can't put my finger on it...

If I remember correctly, they were all in the mid 70's (I didn't want to loose as you can see).

Other party members? Magical creatures? A lot of magic? Does any of this ring any bells?

Re: The Golden Sun Series

for me the first one. i loved it because of the coluseam(sp) part . that was really fun. also i liked the part where you are traveling to the other part of the world on the boat and you have to protect it. i dont care if its not original , as long as its fun thats what counts

Re: The Golden Sun Series

I thought the characters were pretty cool, to be honest. Yes, they were flat characters, but you couldnt deny that Saturos was a cool bad guy and felix a good protagonist.

Re: The Golden Sun Series

I borrowed the first one from my friend and beat it, I bought the second one and beat it and I would have to say that I like tLA better than the first. As mentioned earlier I also believe the plot was ok, as for the characters I thought them more interesting than the plot. For a while I was addicted to these games but then I sold tLA because I got bored of it real fast. On a scale from one to ten I give the series a 7.

Re: The Golden Sun Series

I Loved the first GS, it was one of my first RPGs, but when I bought Lost Age, I got a feeling of deja-vu, and didn't like it as much.

Plot is ok, graphics are good, specialy the special effects sound was ok too. The series is overall good, not the best RPGs of all time, but pretty good games.

There's all the reasons I stopped playing the game after a while... I honestly think it's overrated.

Re: The Golden Sun Series

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the game although it seems here everyone has a rather differing opinion...nevertheless, in my books its a classic ^_^ And my first party were all at level 99 while the others were in the 60's. Sorta made Doom Dragon kinda easy...

The music was wonderful (for a Game boy game, at least), the story framework was actually pretty good (even if the plot wasn't near as well-done), and the dialogue, though not stellar, certainly exceeded expectations (the fact that it was worded with the vocabulary of about a ten-year-old kind of bothered me, though).
