Are there any games like Fable III? (Read more of my post)

I wish the world had more games where you could play as a ruler who goes questing as with Fable III, but, there is hardly a game where you can play as a monarch of a kingdom or empire.

It is especially rare to find a game where you can be ruler of the land and go out on adventures.

I am sorry if I ruin anyone's eyesight because of this, but, BY TALOS, PLEASE DON'T MENTION ZELDA'S ADVENTURE FOR THE CD-I (AKA THE GAME THAT DESECRATES ZELDA)!

I'll admit, I was being a bit of an attention seeker, there. I beg your pardons.

To repeat my questions, is there a PC or even some console game that allows me to play as a questing ruler of a land.

PC would be more ideal if mod support is included.

Many thanks!

EDIT - That did not do damage to my eyesight, so, I suspect the same for everyone else.

It's probably so rare because a monarch going on quests doesn't really make any sense.

Mount and Blade could be what you're looking for, except you have to earn your status as a monarch first.

It's a medieval action RPG with no fantasy elements where you raise a group of warriors that follow you around from peasants and villagers into knights. There's no story and once you get a strong enough warband you can take a castle for yourself and start your own grasroots faction to compete with the six that are already in the game

it's awesome

Kingdom's of Alamur Reckoning.

When I played this game, Fable came to mind right away. Basically same idea.

EDIT:

Oops sorry. Didn't read OP to it's fullest. You don't get to rule as a king in this game, but if you're looking for a similar game style, such as combat and what not, then this game yes.

Is overlord close enough. You don't own all the land, but you do have an evil empire.

^But that's not similar at all to Fable. In the Overlord series, yer character is already a tyrant. Fable is all about choices.

If you both rule the land and quest, it fits the bill.

Fable III, which is what the opening post is talking about, is also about gaining kingship. The choices you make in this time are extremely important to how yer character will turn out.

hello friends,

I want some games that are similar to fable 3 - where you can marry people, own houses, and make moral choices that affect the gameplay.

Have you considered Fable 2? Or perhaps Fable?

Re: Are there any games like Fable III? (Read more of my post)

In the earlier games, choices don't affect gameplay as much. In Fable III, even yer character's appearance and weapons change depending on morals/actions. You even get scars if you die alot.

The first two games had that too.

And if growing horns for wearing black isn't choice effecting gameplay I don't know what is

No, Fable 3 did that whole choice aspect (hell, almost every aspect) worse then its predecessors.

Re: Are there any games like Fable III? (Read more of my post)

In fact, the earlier games changed your appearance more than 3 did, especially if you played an evil character. And 2 had more customization options in general... The only thing 3 has there that 2 doesn't are the Hero Weapons and while those are nice, many won't use them since they're also some of the weakest weapons in the game. 'Sides, in 2 you could "make you own weapon" -- like buying a Master Katana with a bunch of augment slots and then put the augments in you wanted. Might not change appearance, but I do find it n some ways far more personable. (I do wish I could name those weapons though.)

And all three games had scars. In 1/TLC you can get them just for being hit IIRC, and in 2 it's the same as in 3 -- die and you get a scar. Augments even allow you to get more scars since there are some that make you scar more easily. And 2's scars actually look good. 3's are either these weird greyish colour or look like a rash instead. Dying on purpose to get scars is actually fun in 2, not so much in 3.

I love Fable 3, really, but 2 had all those things as well and, imo, did them better.

Overlord? It's basically Pikmin but you are an evil king who controls little demon imps.
