So from the makers of games like Demon's Souls, this is a very Zelda-inspired game for the PS3. It's basically a tribute to the old 2D Zeldas, mostly the first Zelda. Some might say this is just a rip-off and blah blah, but I having been a Zelda fan for ages think this is a pretty cool game.
You can even change characters or make your own from scratch.
The plot is pretty similar to Zelda but with a funny twist to it.
As you can see it's very blocky, inspired by the good ol' pixels of oldschool gaming.
You can also level your sword's power - including its width and length - letting you make massive swings all across the area. It's like Zelda on steroids. Almost.
So I'm curious what do you all think of this game? Especially you Zelda-fans - do ya think it's just a rip-off or do you actually enjoy playing a game like Zelda?
I for one think it's damn good that someone made a game like this. It's definitely a gem in the PS3 library if ya ask me. I don't give a fudge that this is so similar to Zelda, that's all the more reason to enjoy it. It's done in such an obvious way, it's obviously a tribute to Zelda. So why not enjoy it?
EDIT: Seems there's already a thread for this (Zelda Substitutes) mods feel free to move my post there if you feel it's necessary
Loved it. Don't recall TOO much of it, but it was a fun jaunt through the land with a nice amount of video game references.
Although, here's what I found annoying/hilarious:
I had originally bought Demons Souls but found it too hard. As a result, I traded it in to EB Games (who were surprised, as it had been refused classification for Australia) and got 3D Dot Game Heroes with the proceeds.
After a few hours of playing it, I came across an NPC in the castle, who said "My cousin gave me this demon game but it's too hard! Do you want to trade?"
I actually haven't gotten the chance to try it yet, but I think it looks great. I think I'd have fun playing it. Perhaps I'd manage to "build" a Link and play as him.
It's currently on the mental wish list, so hopefully I'll get it some time.

I do have it, but as with many of my games, I've never finished it. I did find it to be very nostalgic, and it's obviously a homage, not a rip-off. They even have references to quotes from the original Zelda in there, and i find that both charming and fun.
The game itself is fun too, although, and this is a minor complaint, the music is nowhere near as good as in Zelda.

I was all FUUUUUUUUUUU. Epic.
Haha. There's also a part where you find a "fallen hero's soul" on a corpse. And some guy says "oh come on, this game isn't that hard!"
Now I gotta admit, this game does get a little boring sometimes, seeing as it is meant to be so linear as oldschool 2D games..but eh, it's not like you need to beat a game asap
