Guys I'm phasing out here. I haven't gamed in a long time and haven't had the desire to want to game. I've been trying to play small bits at a time but nothing is coming at me. I game on my PS3 mainly.
I love the Assassin's Creed games, they are phenomenal. I also own Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted series, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and these are all prime games that I loved and played to bits and pieces.
I attempted Skyrim couldn't get into it. Same for Arkham City. I tried Kingdoms of Alamur Reckoning lost interest in that. I just want a good single player game where I am compelled to play it. Story comes foremost to me over anything. I need story to drive me to want to play the game. I like sci-fi and fantasy games, 3rd person action adventure is fun.
Don't force it. Play video games when you feel like playing video games. If you try to force it you're just going to like what you're doing less and less.
It's a common thing, and happens to me from time to time. I just do something else for a while and eventually I start getting the bug to play games again.
Yeah, Mass Effect! Since ME1 didn't get a PS3 release, you need to read the story or watch a whole playthrough of ME1 to help you decide in the PS3's Mass Effect Genesis. It's a free DLC interactive comics that's included in the PS3 version.
Also try Dragon Age 2, which is imo, a medieval version of Mass Effect. I didn't play the first Dragon Age but majority says that it's the better game than DA2.
Splinter Cell and Tomb Raider games.
As for AC-ish games, Thief: Deadly Shadows is one of the best out there. It has that scare factor even if it's not a horror game. No PS3 version though, but you don't need a powerful modern PC to run it.
Replay the games you already have that you said were phenomenal? If there's any replay value that is.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, then Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto IV Complete Edition
Orange Box, then Portal 2
Bioshock, then Bioshock 2
God of War HD Collection, then God of War III
Try a "minimal" game. Shadow of the Colossus, if you haven't already. It's simple and easy to get into. plus each colossi are fantastic battles that no game since could replicate properly.
There's story there, it's simple and straightforward, but you have to grasp it yourself. It isn't fed to you like most other games like to do.
Sometimes it's best to clear your mind and start small. Nothing too complicated, but still fun.
