Re: Is nintendo finished?

I compare this to anyone and everyone who ever tried (and, failed, of course) to predict or claim the end of the world.

It's not happening. Under the rug with you.

Mario Power Tennis (New Play Control)
Wii Sports
Wii Sports Resort
Epic Mickey

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Link's Crossbow Training (I thought it was fun)
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Animal Crossing City Folk
+more. There are probably some really great games I haven't played. Like Metroid Prime Trilogy, Rayman Origins, and more.

And that's not counting all the amazing Virtual Console titles (like all the Zelda and Mario ones especially), Gamecube backwards compatibility, WiiWare, and all the other cool features (Ex: Netflix, Nintendo Channel, Weather, etc).

Yeah. It was worth every damn penny alright. One of my favorite consoles of all time. Nintendo isn't dying anytime soon.

This. Just check out the big ass list I made above. And I haven't even played all the best Wii games.

Easy. If you ask me, the average customer, and the dude on the street, I'm sure we'd all give the same answer.

Left to right.

No way. Right to left is the way to go in Japan, like mangas!

I think I've stepped into a ♥♥♥♥storm here...

I'm just going to say that I am a rare breed of gamer mostly plays for the story as opposed to the gameplay. If Nintendo doesn't start stop rehashing their plots, I can't say that I'll buy another of their consoles. I can't say anything about everyone else, but those are the thoughts I've had for a while now.

I'd say get used to it, then. A deep Zelda plot is pretty far-fetched when you consider that Nintendo never focuses on story more than gameplay for Zelda. Nintendo games in general do this, Mario probably more so, so what makes Zelda so different?

I'm with you here. I have never been able to play a Mario game for more than 1 hour because of this. (No, I'm not kidding).

I honestly don't care much about the gameplay so long as its not infuriatingly difficult or frustatingly unresponsive.

If the game doesn't have a good story to drive me to play, then I can't. Most Mario games give you almost no reason at all to play them. I also don't play sports games because of this.

This coming from a man who counts Call of Duty amongst his favourite series.

Play the Kingdom Hearts series if you haven't already. It has awesome gameplay, and a really deep and amazing (and sometimes confusing) story with it. It also has great music.

And Skyrim. Ha. He must have no idea what a real story is. Seriously, play Kingdom Hearts if you want story. I would also like to refer you to the Final Fantasy series (especially 7 and 4). btw, compared to CoD, every Zelda has a huge and amazing story.

Re: Is nintendo finished?

Don't you just love getting bashed for having a different opinion?

Guys, what exactly does my personal opinion on CoD and Skyrim have to do with anything. I play games with plots that I think are good.

I personally think that CoD and Skyrim have good plots. It's all up to personal preference.

As I've said, I doubt Nintindo will flop for at least a decade at least, but I might not be one of the people that buy most of their games and consoles.

Nintendo has lots of money stored away, they can afford to fail for a good long while.

Nintendo is hardly going to flop. The same things were said about the Wii prior to its release, way back when it was codenamed the Revolution, and motion controlled seemed some invasive creature from a far off world. The Wii, DS, and 3DS have consistently outsold every member of the competition and continue to do so. Regardless of how "casual" you may believe their systems to be, they are in no danger of falling out of the console race.

By the way, Call of Duty and Skyrim do have horrible stories.

Keep in mind that Call of Duty's plot is what you would call "cinematic", just as its gameplay is. That doesn't make it good or compelling in any way, it just means the game likes to go in slow motion, while providing boring exposition to back up an already ridiculous scenario.

Also, Pinkie Pie laughed while she was Gamestop and heard someone say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the most anticipated title of 2012.

lol wut, I remember people being impressed like ♥♥♥♥ when the motion controls were initially revealed.

I love it when people do that, "oh people were saying the same thing about _________ when it was revealed" when the majority of people were actually saying how cool it was. As for the DS and 3DS its natural that they'd have the lead in market share considering they had a virtual monopoly for 20 years prior. But Sony was actually able to get a foothold in the market with the PSP obtaining a third of the market share, something no company has achieved since the Gameboy. The PSP was a success.

You may love it to death, but it's true. Pinkie Pie remembers the general reaction being that the Wii was a gimmick. She even remembers Sony going out of its way to say that it would never create a system that relied on such "gimmicks". The best comparison would be hearkening back to Wind Waker, when a mass of disappointment was directed at the art style, even though people came to love the game in the end.

Save people were excited for it. And sony did put motion control in their system. It's called the six axis controller.

Nintendos audience is waning. Kids these days are getting less interested in mario and zelda and more interested in fps's. Most people i see playing Nintendo game are older fans grown up
