Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

^ yeah i dislike that aswell... but the r very subtle differences

like falcons much faster than gannonorf

the different gun wth falco and fox.. and falco jumps higher

marth sword is more effective with the tip while roy is more so with his center blade

theres more with the others.. but we all know them so y waste my breath rite

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

I was not overwhelmed by SSBM but there are things that are tough just like any game. As for which one is better, I liked the originals inovativeeness, but it was so so short. There was nothing comapared to all the unlockable of Melee.

I love SSBM

I don't know where I would be without my [L/R + down] sidestep technique. I love Melee. It is the entire reason I bought a GameCube. Now that I am here at college, I play it way too much. I love finding people that came from places where they were the best. I sit them down, crush their pride, and wait for more.

Also, to all of those who dislike the "clones" : Yes, there are a lot of characters with nearly identical B-moves. However, when you start the play the game at extreme levels, you start to see that those "clones" are not clones at all. The tiny differences between them make ALL the difference. It's actually NICE to be able to choose a different character with different attributes but keep your same B-moves. So, granted, if you don't have 400 hours logged on the game like I do (which is understandable), I could see the "clones" as annoying. As for me and my 'clan', we love everything about Melee, but we actually play with items turned OFF.

That's because the size of the great fox was reduced.
Oh, and Melee rocks.

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

In my opinion, SSBM is much better than SSB because of these things:

1. More characters for more variety.

2. More techniques such as the 5-time jump, wavedashing, and L-Canceling.

3. Much easier to get back on stage.

4. HRC...enough said.

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

SSBM is better in just about every way. I don't like the fact that half of the characters have clones. I also liked the entrances in the original.

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

I like SSBM better than the original. I played melee first, so the first one seemed to have bad graphics and less moves, characters, and arenas. I like the second one better. It does bore me now, we've had the game for years and we're running out of things to do in it.

Explore the game, check out all the moves of the various players. I'm not underwhelmed at all, I loved the game, and I still do.

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

Melee is better because of all the things you can do besides fighting. Like the homerun contest and everything else besides 'race to the finish' and 'target test'. You could also play games within the game. You could do that in the original, but there is more games to play in SSBM.

Both games are very different I only have Melee so I can't tell you which one I think is better.

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

All in all, the discussion of which Smash Bros. is better is pretty pointless in my opinion. Melee is a sequel that improves upon it's predesesor in every way. I used to love the original, but I find it hard to play it after Melee....it's so slow!

Re: Anyone underwhelmed by Super Smash Bros Melee?

I love Super Smash Bros. Melee, but am also quite fond of the original. The sheer vastness of the former game is a bit overwhelming, but I am rather disposed toward this quality: there's an element of surprise and discovery naturally interwoven into its bigger, and far more complex design. While the stages are a bit... well... blah, on the occasion (thus I am inclined towards the SSB stages), I enjoy the character design, as I am sure many of us do. The smallness of SSB gave it a manageable aspect that, at least from my experience, became somewhat tired after a few months of play, whereas SSBM, while still liable to the consequence of eventual tiredness, came to this point more slowly than did its predecessor. All in all, I enjoy SSBM more, despite its somewhat overwhelming magnitude.
