I love Super Smash Bros. Melee, but am also quite fond of the original. The sheer vastness of the former game
is a bit overwhelming, but I am rather disposed toward this quality: there's an element of surprise and discovery naturally interwoven into its bigger, and far more complex design. While the stages are a bit... well... blah, on the occasion (thus I am inclined towards the
SSB stages), I enjoy the character design, as I am sure many of us do. The smallness of
SSB gave it a manageable aspect that, at least from my experience, became somewhat tired after a few months of play, whereas
SSBM, while still liable to the consequence of eventual tiredness, came to this point more slowly than did its predecessor. All in all, I enjoy
SSBM more, despite its somewhat overwhelming magnitude.
