Re: If you could remake one game, what would it be, and how would you do it?

^ There's no need for spoiler tags. Everyone knows that (I suppose that's the joke)... sadly. I sure wish that I didn't.

Anyway, I know, I'm being a bit presumptuous, but I think that after 15-20 hours of gameplay I have enough of a feel for how the game works, and what could be fixed or updated. While I'm having a blast with it, and it's already in my top 10 games (above Xenoblade, I might add), I'm certain that many would feel that it's really dated (and it is, but I kind of like it for that. It adds a kind of magic to the game).

I mean, it doesn't NEED to have the gameplay and overworld revised, but it could use some lemon juice. Besides, the more they (a third party developer, not Squeenix themselves) can flesh out the world, the better, and I'd love to see the landscape of FFVII's world in immense detail and scope. Some may not, but that's what I want. That being said, I'd also love to see the game left alone. I'd rather leave it alone than give Square Enix the chance to George Lucas it.

Re: If you could remake one game, what would it be, and how would you do it?

I would totally remake Zelda: Wand of Gamelon and Link: Faces of Evil.

Gameplay would mostly resemble Zelda II, and graphics would be rendered in 3D with an artstyle similar to the way ALttP's official artwork looked.

The 'stories' woud be tweaked to fit into Zelda canon and the ridiculous cutscenes would be killed, with new ones being made, containing a few references to the older ones, but nothing too distracting.

Most of the actual game would be redesigned, but it would still be recognizable by someone that for some reason played the original game and didn't alter his memories to forget the experience.

MOTHER 1 remade with Earthbound's engine, and have the game re-balanced.

I'd like to remake Azure Dreams (originally for the PlayStation), purely so I could play it on a newer console. That game was awesome. A small bump in the graphics would be nice, but not necessary. I just want to be able to play it again. :<

Was Earthbound's engine really that much more advanced?

I don't know about the engine being more advanced, but the game looked a whole hell of a lot better than the first game. Mother 1 could also use gameplay tweaking to make it more like 2 and 3. While the story, characters, and atmosphere in Mother 1 are all charming, the gameplay sucked.

Re: If you could remake one game, what would it be, and how would you do it?

All the old Super Mario games, including All-Stars. Well, not like fully blown 3D remakes, but this is what I would like to see:

- Full screen resolution. Not a fan of playing with the enormous black bars. If this means recoding everything so more enemies appears across a larger screen, then so be it.

- Difficulty levels for those who ♥♥♥♥♥ that Mario games are too easy.

- Extra challenges a la Super Mario Bros. Delux. Finding secret stuff in a level like red coins or yoshi eggs, racing something to the finish, collectibles, etc.

- Multiplayer not unlike New Super Mario Bros. Wii. and make it online.

-Online leaderboards for best time. Possibly a death counter board showing how many deaths it took before the person beat the game.

- Give Super Mario Bros. all the cool stuff that Super Mario DX had. It's sad when the handheld version becomes vastly superior and these things are never added to the console version in later years.

If you ask me, this is what the Super Mario 25th Anniversary Colkection should have been.

Re: If you could remake one game, what would it be, and how would you do it?

As of right now, the only remake I need is MM3D. After that, I'll be pretty content in the remakes department.

(Although Super Mario World (My first game ever) and Final Fantasy VII remakes would certainly make my ears perk up)

FFVII remake would be nice, it's one of my favorite games of all time tied with OoT.

What I'd be quite curious to see is an A Link to the Past remake in 3D. That idea alone blows my mind.

^ Chances are that if they would do a ALttP3D, it would probably still be a somewhat top-down view, but just with better graphics and some depth and maybe a tilt to the view. I doubt it would be as 3D as OoT.

Sorta like Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks you say? Yeah, I'd like it either way to be honest, I think this game needs to be experienced by the same generation that is discovering OoT through the 3DS in a similar fashion.

RE: If you could remake one game, what would it be, and how would you do it?

I would remake The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. In my opinion, although the game still looks good and plays well today, it still has some flaws that weaken the game.
Things to fix:
1. Graphics Resolution
In my opinion, The Wind Waker is one of those games that deserve to be upscaled not just to 1080p, but to 4K resolutions as well. But I'm fine with normal 1080p. Just add widescreen, higher-resolution textures, and higher-poly models (islands are way blockier than they should be) and I'll be fine.
2. Difficulty
Of all the flaws The Wind Waker has, its low difficulty is the most important and most damaging. While the game is still fun to play in its current state, the difficulty makes subsequent playthroughs more boring than previous ones. Increase the difficulty level to that of Ocarina of Time and you have a near-perfect game.
3. Ending Cutscene
The otherwise-awesome ending cutscene of The Wind Waker shows just how rushed the developers were at the end. For example, just before the final battle, Ganon knocks Link down while Link is holding his shield in front of him. After Ganon knocks the Master Sword out of Link's hand, Link's shield is on his back. Another, more noticeable mistake occurs when Link slumps down after killing Ganondorf. During the beginning of this cutscene. Zelda holds him up on his right. But later in the cutscene, Zelda is on Link's LEFT side.
4. Stairs
Not many people notice this, but stairs in later parts of the game act like ramps instead of stairs. This is more evidence that the game was rushed later in development.
5. Torches
For some reason, the game cannot render overlapping lighting from two or more point sources (torches) correctly. The shadowed part and the lit part of the lit object alternates periodically. Such a programming oversight is minor, but should not be included if this game is remade.
6. Hyrule
Many people wish that the sealed Hyrule should be fully explorable, probably with Ocarina of Time locations in ruins. This would make Hyrule less boring, as in its current state it is just a path leading to Ganon's Tower.

Although The Wind Waker is my all-time favorite game, I still find many flaws in it, even though most of my findings are the result of nitpicking. I hope that The Wind Waker is at least rereleased on the Wii U in its current form, but with HD widescreen support.

That's funny. A lot fans say that Twilight Princess was easier~
