The Official Pottermore thread!

So it has finally happened! That's right! Pottermore finally opened to the public!

"No wayy! Hell froze over!"
Calm down there, boy. It's true! Starting Sunday, the legendary (for staying in beta) Pottermore opened up for everyone unlucky enough to get in in the beta.

"But wtf is Pottermore?"
Well, its an interactive site designed to act as a 'Reading Companion' of sorts to Harry Potter. Jo Rowling has written a great deal of bonus content just for this site. You can register, go through the chapters in a sort of 'point and click' style to find items and unlock little pieces of info about characters, places, things, spells, all in the Harry Potter world. You can also buy a wand, shop in Diagon Alley, get sorted at Hogwarts (!!!) and learn spells, make potions, and even duel classmates. You can even add people to a friends list of sorts and watch their progress through the stories, trade items with them and all sorts of little fun crap. Even leaving comments on the character bios and even submit (original) artwork to the site! Its kinda cool!

"Sounds awesome! How do I join?"
Simply go to Pottermore: a unique online Harry Potter experience from J.K. Rowling and sign up!

"What's this about e-books?"
Oh yeah, you can actually purchase e-books and audio books of the Harry Potter series right there on the site! Neat huh?

"Yeah! I signed up! I want friends! What's your Pottermore name?"
Remember that Pottermore usernames are pretty much issued to you. Its also a bit frowned upon to make multiple accounts. Not that it stops people...
So feel free (if you are comfortable enough) to post your Pottermore name here so other Pottermore Zed Yewers can add you!

"I already got through the first book! When is the next gonna be opened up?"

I haven't logged into Pottermore in so long.

My house is Gryffindor, I have a black cat for a pet and my wand is...12 inches, sycamore and dragon core, I think?

At first I couldn't sign up past my birthday, but after I was able to complete registration after I refreshed a few times.

Then when I signed in for the first time, it gave the same error message. I just had to refresh again. I'm sure the site just has a lot of traffic, etc.

Now to answer my own questions!

What do you like about Pottermore?
I loOOOooooOooove the exclusive and not-very well known info that Rowling has written up about HP, the characters and junk. A lot of the wand stuff is really cool and the House introduction pages are really freaking cool. I also like the backgrounds of the "moments" in the chapters!

What house are you in?
This should come to absolutely NO surprised to anyone ever. But yeah its Slytherin. So Jo has spoken. Word of God says Slytherin. Im takin' it!

What kind of wand do you have?
Acacia with Dragon Heartstring. 12 1/2 inches, quite bendy.
Upon reading about the wand woods and cores...this wand is ♥♥♥♥ing SPOOOOOOKY! Coupled with my username and House...i wonder wtf it is Pottermore is trying to tell me. Am i destined to be the next Dark Lord or something?

Like i said in the first question, its pretty amazing! Theres a lot interesting info about some characters. Especially Professor MacGonagall. Holy crap. I cant wait to see more info about wizard portraits and just how they work, and of course info about Snape.

I like the potions, even if it is annoying having to wait an hour between stages. And the spells are fun too :3
I'd really like to see the rest of the books added, for a start, as well as patronuses.

I thought it was very fun to read about the different want woods. I'm very happy with ending up in Gryffindor and with the wand^^

Some of my favorite parts have been answering the "personality" tests, so far. As for what I'm looking forward to the most, I think it might be to read more about the patronuses.

Eh, after trying to get into the games of Pottermore, I think I will stick to just looking for new information about the story. With Pottermore letting me be able to get a house, wand, pet, etc it feels as though I should have a player avatar as well, which is how I'm used to doing things. I don't feel as immersed with the page-by-page exploration.

I can understand how Pottermore is trying to be different, but so far it seems to be some deformed offspring of a Forum and an RPG.
