3DS Successor?

Do you think they will make one? And when? What will they add to it?

I thought they going to make one with a second analog circle pad?

What do you guys think?

Added spiny thing?

What? What? What?

It's too soon for a 3DS successor. Do you mean as redesign with a second analog circle pad? It's too soon for one of those for it would kill business.

Redundant and repetitive post is redundant and repetitive.

I forgot what it was called, fixed. =]

And I mean, they are making that ugly attachment for it. How long did it take them to make a better version of the DS?

Re: 3DS Successor?

It took like seven years for DS's successor to come out. I'm not concerned with 3DS's yet. Especially since the two games I got the 3DS for, Animal Crossing and Paper Mario, don't even have release dates yet.

Re: 3DS Successor?

Of course they will make one and so is Sony's Vita. Maybe even Apple and Microsoft would join the gaming handheld war.
Technology advances everyday so it's still too early and difficult to say what would they add for it.
Maybe in 2018-2020 perhaps?

In a way, Microsoft already has their gaming handheld in the form of the Windows Phone.

Windows Phone. They're the only gaming company with their own phone OS and and app store that multiple vendors are building phones for. That's like half the point of Windows 8, too. Windows Phone 7 already supports Xbox Live and has games with achievements and multiplayer. Sure, the games suck, but they're the only thing that millions of phone owners with WP7 phones can play. And sure, right now it's just "millions", but there are going to be a lot more cellphones to sell in the near future. And the games will probably start getting better as the hardware does, which it is doing at a rapid pace.

Re: 3DS Successor?

I think this will most likely be the last generation of handhelds. They already have Onlive support for the android OS on phones. Give it another 5 years or so and our phones will be able to fill the niche of hand held gaming quite nicely.

Re: 3DS Successor?

Of course there will be, though I wouldn't expect it for the better part of a decade TBH. A redesign of the 3DS though I wouldn't be surprised if there was one shown before the end of the year, likely at E3.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I doubt phones will replace handheld gaming, for the same reason they haven't replaced cameras, despite the technology already being there. No matter how good the phones get, there will always be a dedicated device that does it better. The market for handheld gaming systems may become smaller, with only hobbyists buying them, but they will always exist in some form.

I personally prefer to have a special device for gaming capable to show polygons than just playing Angry Birds...

Using onlive your phone or tablet can run games like Street fighter 4 or Assassin's creed. Its literally like playing console games on the go. My phone as it is can emulate up to PS1 games, in 5 years they will be able to do much more.

Re: 3DS Successor?

I would not like that. Mostly because I like having a phone to call people, a camera to take pictures and film videos, and a gaming handheld to provide my gaming experiences. I would prefer buttons to control instead of just a touch screen.

This is pretty much my opinion. I carry about a phone, mp3 player, game system and camera all as separate devices. It's amazing the shocked looks I get occasionally when people discover this.

It works just fine. It's the phone I own. It plays games just fine. Not only that, but I have working emulators for nes up to Ps1 installed on it. I've never had a problem running them. It's much like how consoles are slowing moving into just a specialized pc. Handhelds will most likely just merge with phone companies.

Re: 3DS Successor?

First we're gonna get the 3DS lite, wich is gonna be SMALLER. Then the 3DS+ with the second "joystick" (I know thats not the name but I don't know what its called).

The the 3DSGRGDFSMKT Capable of taking video in 3D!!! And a few months later the 3DS Katemed, with a water spray to spray water at your face when the games include a water level or something. AND THEN...

You get my point. I hate nintendo for this, and I wouldn't be surprised if they keep doing it. I mean, how many versions of the DS did we get? Like 3-4?

Re: 3DS Successor?

Well. This is what I think. I find that the 3DS isn't as good as I expected. I think the the successor should not be in 3D. The 3D isn't the best quality. A large amount of the games suck (except the really great N64 remakes). I think that they need to match the technological intensity that Sony brings in the realm of hand-helds.
