Re: Games that need more love.

...do any of the games in the opening post need more love? They're already popular, mainstream titles that sold millions of copies apiece.

Pinkie Pie bought Viking some years ago at a Block Buster for $15. It was meant to be a momentary distraction, but the quality of the game surprised Pinkie Pie. Featuring a combat system that felt like a realistic step up from God of War's, and large-scale war scenarios that literally threw you into the middle of a battle between armies, Viking was often the very definition of epic.

All this and an open world to boot.

Oh, and Viking Stealth. Viking Stealth kicks ass.

If you see Viking: Battle for Asgard sitting alone on a shelf, pick it up, and give it some love.

They're popular, but there are also people who hate/dislike them.

Yes, but they're not exactly wanting for love.

❤❤❤❤ING

MOUNTAINBLADE

Brilliantly well designed game with an awesome physics-based combat engine. A medieval, non-fantasy RPG set in the generic world of Calradia, you build up an army of peasants to ❤❤❤❤-slapping knights and cruise around the countryside tearing down castles. It's awesome. Got some kinks to work out though, it's best played with mods on. Don't get me wrong, it's still awesome vanilla. The complete lack of story sets the game up for a completely personal experience, making the world feel real and the player feel like a very important (or insignificant, depending on how much of a boss he is) part of it.

Alpha Protocol. I get it's buggy and unfair to non-combat builds but it's just so awesome in spite of that. It's got memorable characters and decision points that actually do ❤❤❤❤, making the politics of your actions the driving focus instead of just a side-note.

Yu Gi Oh: The Falsebound Kingdom is a game that has such interesting gameplay. As opposed to playing the Duel Monsters card game, you instead are treated to some sort of real time strategy. Though, instead of soldiers, you can battle and conduct marshals using monsters and characters that fans of the show or cardgame might be familiar with.

Yeah, it's like everything Mass Effect claimed to be, except with combat twice as bad. Which isn't really a bad thing--stealth is incredibly broken so you can breeze through every level turning invisible and snapping necks. The AI is retarded so they're not hard to sneak past.

But yeah, I got it for 2 dollars on steam and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Re: Games that need more love.

Severance: Blade of Darkness.

The game's story and artstyle and world design and whatnot is EXTREMELY generic.

But damn, the combat is really fun.

And it has something that is not commonly seen in gaming AT ALL.

A first person mode:

Featuring your feet!

Re: Games that need more love.

I always like the Lost Kingdoms games. Every review I've ever read of it says it's a piece of crap, but it brought lots of joy to me in my teenage years. I sold it two years ago for grocery money

I wonder if I can get it off amazon.

Re: Games that need more love.

Criminally underrated SRPG for DS

A literal masterpiece and one of the best RPG's of all time. It's sad pretty much nobody knows about it

Gets a lot of hate for not being as polished as other games in the series and some other issues but is still a great game in the series

The best Sonic game in the series. Nuff said.

Good JRPG for the Wii

One of my favorite games of all time. You play a superhero cop (who continually gets even more superpowered) who pretty much makes his own rules in taking down gangs in a huge city. It may not sound like much but it's really ❤❤❤❤ing amazing and addicting.

It's really more of an expansion pack than a sequel but it's still pretty damn good and worth the money now that it's pretty cheap now. Definitely play the first one first though. This game adds some minor improvements, a new story focusing on killing hippies and zombies thingies, a ruined version of the original city, and a multiplayer mode.

The first game I got for my Wii on launch day and still one of my favorites. This WAS the best racing game of all time until...

The sequel to Excite Truck takes everything amazing about Excite Truck and amplifies it by 42 ❤❤❤❤ING MILLION BILLION TRILLION! Best racing game ever.

Amazing and adorable mind ❤❤❤❤ing puzzle game. Perfect for co-op as well.

Many will just write it off as a simply Mario Kart clone with Sega character but you'd be very wrong. Yes the basic gameplay is very similar to Mario Kart, but it does everything Mario Kart does BUT BETTER! With all kinds of awesome modes, a huge character and level roster, and with beautiful HD graphics nonetheless. It's Mario Kart but better in every conceivable way.

MYST!

The Myst saga is my most favorite collection of puzzle games. To... even call them puzzle games is doing them an injustice, though. They all come from such an amazing and imaginative universe that isn't revealed to you right away. Slowly, over the course of the six games, more of the world is shown to you. In the very first game you know absolutely nothing and are immediately set off on your own without a clear objective in sight. The only thing you can do is explore until you slowly begin to find your purpose. Each game is a mystery, the puzzles all seamlessly integrated into the environments. The second game does an even better job at this to the point where the entire game feels like one giant puzzle/mystery to solve.

The first two games in the Myst series are hands down the best, though the second one (Riven) is my personal favorite.

Riven is the hardest, most challenging game I've ever played in my life. At the same time, it's incredibly rewarding (so long as you don't use a walkthrough). I guarantee you, if you don't look up help online, it could take you years to beat this game.

Every game ever made gets this same treatment, no matter how amazing they might be. There will always be some people who don't like the good games, and there will always be some people who like the terrible ones.

I make a post on the BEST ARTSTYLES thread with Riven stuff.

Seconds later I come in here and find this.

This is fantastic.
