Re: Diablo 3

I'm enjoying it gameplaywise but the story is a pain to play through several times.
The only time I lose interest is when I meet a bad combination on Hell with my Demon Hunter.

Well, anything thats Jailer/Fast is....nearly impossible for me.

Re: Diablo 3

I played about two hours of it at my friend's house. Surprisingly, I really liked how the single player and the co-op seamlessly flowed together. It was quick and easy to open my game to joiners and have random players join my game. Plus, it was a lot of fun to coordinate our attacks.

It's a little disappointing that you cannot customize your stats (this is the one thing that really bothers me), and you have to pick and choose abilities instead of being able to use them all. However, I will say that the gameplay feels a lot faster and more satsifying than it did in the first two. It also makes you think about which abilities you should bring to a scenario.

I may pick it up, since I enjoyed what I played of it so far. Plus, I've got friends that play this game all the time. For those of you who have it, how do you like it? How does it fare to the first two? Do you see yourselves coming back to this title after you've beaten it? Anything awesome or disappointing about the game?

Re: Diablo 3

I dunno, man. I played through the open beta twice and I did not like it at all. Might buy it when it's worth $10.

I did not, but that doesn't make the fact that I'm enjoying D3 any less relevant.

Re: Diablo 3

I picked up Diablo III yesterday, though I haven't had a chance to play too much of it. If anyone has a low level character and wants to join me on normal (Level 8 Monk), just add me and jump in. (edited out) Just let me know you are, and I'll add you.

But it does explain how you could possibly enjoy Diablo 3.

I've played the other 2, especially the 2:nd one a lot. I still enjoy Diablo 3 to a specific point.

I've played the first two as well, but I'm having a lot of fun with the 3rd one--especially the multiplayer, which I find a lot more satsifying than 1 and 2. It's changed a lot since 2, but it's still Diablo. The fact that (I assume) you haven't played the 3rd one outside of the beta pretty much discredits anything you have to say about the final version.

But that is irrelevant to the point I'm making.

No, it doesn't. I don't need to experience the full product to be able to judge it. Open betas are made available to the public so gamers can get a taste of the game and want more of it. It is a representation of the game as a whole; whatever you get in the beta is what you'll be getting in the full game. A poorly devised argument.

It's true that betas are a way for gamers to get a taste of the game, but Blizzard was also notorious for tweaking, removing, and changing many aspects of the game from beta to beta, and then to the final product. Playing the first hour of an unfinished game doesn't necessarily reflect the entirety of the product, just like watching a trailer of a movie or playing a game demo doesn't necessarily reflect the overall quality of the product. If I had judged games based on a beta or a demo, I wouldn't have played a lot of amazing games. Likewise, I've played a lot of demos and betas that were amazing, but the games turned out to be ♥♥♥♥.

Anyway, I'm currently in Act II, and I'm still really enjoying it. The story's a little bleh, but Diablo's never really been about the story. The presentation of the cinematics, however, is pretty impressive. I'm really liking all the little mods I can make to my abilities. It makes preparing for battle just as exciting as the battles themselves.

Re: Diablo 3

Anyone who's played/watched both the beta and the release version will tell you they're really not that different.

In any case, I played 2, I'm still enjoying 3, and I'm not really am MMO person. It's not the same, but it's still enjoyable. The best thing you can do for yourself with this game is ignore the plotholes, especially the retconning.

I played the beta. Aside from changes to item balance, crafting, difficulty and minor UI changes it's pretty much identical to the final game.

Re: Diablo 3

True. The overall gameplay hasn't really changed much from the open beta to the final version, though the beta only showed a fraction of the overall skills, skill runes and the combined variations offered in the game--variations that really make Diablo III's gameplay more diverse and interesting than what was shown in the open beta. If you didn't like the general gameplay or whatever in the open beta, chances are you won't like the final version. But the gameplay in the retail version becomes a lot more tactical and strategic once more skills and skill runes are unlocked, especially in groups, compared to what was seen in the open beta.

As far as the changes, I was mainly talking about the changes from the different iterations of the closed beta to what was shown in the open beta/final version. And there were a lot. The removal of the nephalem altars (how skills are swapped), the addition of the skill runes, how drops are handled among groups, how artisans work, crafting, how players join your game, etc.

Re: Diablo 3

Double post because of relevance

So, has anyone's account been hacked yet? I was at one of Act IV's minibosses, and all of the sudden, I was disconnected with an Error 60. If you don't know what that is, it's when someone else accesses your account from another location. I logged back on, only to find that all my gold, loot, and stored loot was gone. The only thing that wasn't taken was my current equipped items. I've since changed everything on my account, and added the authenticator.

I initially brushed off the authenticator as something frivolous, but I now recommend it to anyone on battle.net. Apparently, Blizzard's security is ♥♥♥♥--something I didn't know as I've had little experience with battle.net, outside of some SCII. They do not allow case sensitive passwords, nor different passwords for each of your battle.net games. I filed a ticket 18 hours ago, and I still haven't gotten a response from Blizzard yet. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon, because I'm becoming a little irritated.

Anyone with similar experiences?

(And yes, my computer is AIDS-free)

Re: Diablo 3

I was playing with Buck, the owner of GameBanshee.com, and his account was literally hacked right then and there. Someone logged in with the same character as he was playing, emptied his stash, then left. He managed to get back on in around 30 seconds but by then the hacker had taken some of his items and all his gold. He got it back, but suffice is to say Blizzard's response on the matter has been pitiful (it's your fault you got hacked, idiot, buy our authenticator!!!1). The game's economy is going to tank anyway, now that botters and gold farmers have seized control of the Auction House.

Re: Diablo 3

Blizzard finally rolled back my account last night, and I completed my monk run through of the game. Diablo, despite his deep health pool, was really easy. Especially since I could keep stunning him, send my summon to distract him, rinse and repeat. If anyone is interested in doing a nightmare run, or a normal level run for that matter (I'm playing a Demon Hunter now), let me know and I'll send you my battle.net gamertag. My Monk's level 31, and I'm level 3 with my Demon Hunter.

I used to join/host public games all the time, but ever since I was hacked I'm almost scared to. Apparently, that's where I was hacked. A known hacker joined my game for a little while, left, and then logged into my account and took all my gold/loot. It sucks, because this game is meant to be played cooperatively.
