I love KI:U. Definitely the best 3DS game. I'm currently at Chapter 10 I think. Loved that plot twist.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

I gotta say, one of the most pleasant surprises imaginable in this game is stumbling over a new weapon (gotten either by singleplayer, multiplayer, Spotpass or fusing) that's so good it suddenly makes those level 9 challenges actually seem doable. I recently got a really awesome Viridi Palm that has enabled me to beat several levels on the highest difficulty and which makes the air sections especially so much easier than before. It's part of what gives this game almost infinite replay value, since even when you think you've gotten the best possible result on each mission there's always the chance of getting a game-changing weapon that has you itching to tackle the different missions again.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

I have this game since the launch. Currently, I'm collecting hearts to purchase a Twinbellows Cannon.

By the way, who actually uses the stand? I use it whenever I'm playing the KU:I as well as watching videos. My hands get tired if I hold the 3DS too long.

^My hands used to get hurt too. But now that I have a battery pack the 3DS fits in my hand better. I don't use the stand though, I don't need it.

I just put my right pinky behind the 3DS while playing. No hand cramps and it provides really good stabilization.

I use the stand if I'm at home and not on a couch.

Everywhere else, I use my pinky finger to hold it, except I actually put it under the 3DS.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

I don't use the stand at all, I find it very awkward and uncomfortable to use. It takes up too much room on the DS to use comfortably, plus you need to be sitting at a table at the exact right height, on a chair at again the exact right height, for my arm to be comfortable. The 3DS is so small as well, it hurts my hand no matter what game I'm playing, so I'm pretty much screwed there as well.

So I just got to the fifth chapter in single player...

Pandora's Tower is the ♥♥♥♥. It looks so cool, and the flight part to get there was crazy.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

I use the stand every time I play, and for that reason, I don't play that often. The game is awesome, it really is (I just found the Skyscraper Club LOL), but I'm obviously too lazy to use the thing. It really hurts the game not being able to play efficiently whilst travelling, especially since you bump all over the place on the bus.

But man, I really need to play this more at home. One thing that I thought was gonna be boring was the talking cutscenes where you see the sprites of each character, but what a great job they did by showing those while you're playing the level. It really cuts down on what could have been a considerable amount of unecessary downtime, which likely would have left me wanting to skip the dialogue and inevitably end up having to miss out on the story.

I haven't even opened the stand. I just stabilize the 3DS with my right pinkie and all is well. I imagine it would be a real bastard playing it on the bus, but any touch screen based game is going to be a bastard to play in bumpy environments.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

^ I've played it on the subway a few times, its actually not that bad. I still generally stay away from it though since I'm afraid I'll drop the stylus, and most of the later levels can actually take a while and aren't suitable unless you're in for a long trip.

Couldn't agree more, the talking happening during the levels was brilliant. It made the levels more enjoyable and made it so that you wouldn't miss any important story bits by skipping cut-scenes accidentally. I was pleasantly surprised at the beginning when it throws you right into the level instead of having a cut-scene.

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising: General Thread

I got KI:U yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot. There's just one problem, (and I'm sure you all know what I'm going to say) the controls. They're bad enough as it is, but it's killer for a left-hander like myself. Rotating the camera feels really awkward, especially in your non-dominant hand. I'm thinking of buying the circle pad pro, but I don't know if it's worth spending an extra £15 just for one game. It's beyond me why they didn't put the second stick in to begin with...

I'll probably just carry on playing how it's supposed to be played though I don't think I'll be able to keep on level five for much longer.
