World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

Cuz why not?

So the media blackout has been lifted. Quite a lot of information and footage is out now. With as much as they have done the beta shouldn't be too far off. Their stated goal is to return to how vanilla WoW felt. Plenty of threats to combat, adventures to go on, people to help, but unlike all of the other expansions there's no direct final boss type of character. The big antagonist is war. Looks like we get to ♥♥♥♥ing KILL Garrosh in the final patch! Yus!

As the patches go on war will be brought to Pandaria. Parts of the zones will change. Once you get through the content that just comes in the base build, that's when the Alliance and Horde both show up in mass on the shores and build their fortresses and bring THEIR war and THEIR problems to the new continent.

MMO-Champion - World of Warcraft News and Raiding Strategies

MMOchamp has the content better organized than I could do it. I do like the new feature for aoe looting. I know they're a little late to the party on it, and other games have already been doing it. Still, that doesn't mean they shouldn't put it in. The new battlegrounds seem interesting. One of them is basically a game of oddball from Halo except the ball is giving you a damage buff and slowly killing you and giving a stacking healing reduction debuff. I am actually really looking forward to the pet battle system. I've spent many an hour just dicking around not doing anything once I hit my valor cap for the week, and couldn't get in on more raids. So now I have something else to do at max lvl with all the little pets I've taken so much time to acquire. I like how they're sticking to the no flying until max lvl deal. I hope they don't do what they did with the tome of cold weather flying either. Sometimes it is better to have to run around the zones on ground than get a sky view and just skip over things.

It looks like they probably will, but I hope they throw the Alliance a freaking bone here. Lost a good bit of territory last xpac and just gained a few forts in the barrens and Stonetalon. You'd think we're even gonna lose those after Theramore gets sacked.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

I'm looking forward to the expansion, also. I find it annoying that Blizzard announced long-term story information like the whole Garrosh thing so early- it's like, the game isn't even in beta yet, and they've already told us what a future book in the series will be about, so to speak.

But, I like AoE looting, and I think the idea of Pandaria being 'finished' on release and future content patches being 'sequels' that update the continent is a good idea. It means people who start playing later in the expansion miss out though, so that's a pity.

And I'm curious about this Valor Point thing. Instead of being a currency to buy new gear, it gets used to upgrade our currently equipped items and make them stronger? Where does that leave Justice Points?

Pet Battles = yes, Challenge Modes I like, though I'll probably suck at them. Removal of Prime Glyphs is odd, but the addition of plenty of vanity glyphs oughta be fun- Stag form instead of Travel Form, faster bubble-hearth, turning into an Orca instead of a whatever-acquatic-form-is... Should be some awesome customisation coming.

Yeah, as much as I like it it is weird that they revealed the thing about Taking out Garrosh in the last patch when the game isn't even in beta yet.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

I think they revealed that because they really wanted to stop all of the nonsense, "This gayme is for kids, kungfu panda crap" and try to appeal to those idiots.

I'm very excited for the expansion. Been waiting for the Pandarian's since vanilla.

Maybe join the Horde and realize that the Alliance are a bunch of 12 year old pansys?

Maybe join the alliance and realize the only Horde people worth a crap are the trolls and tauren, and they don't even do much these days but make the actual leader look like the idiot he is.

You do have to love that all of the races, Alliance and Horde are united in the belief that Garrosh is a pretty big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Baine made him look like a dumbass when he ran off and got all of his personal guard and nearly himself killed after he warned him. Varian whipped the ♥♥♥♥ out of him in single combat in the Wolfheart book. Vol'jin...well when we see an arrow through Garrosh's heart we'll know whose it is.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

Alliance will yell at you for how much you suck and leave. Horde will yell at you for how much you suck and stay.

At least that is my experience.

Dwarves are aight though.

Dwarves, gnomes, tauren and trolls are the best races in WoW. Goblins are kinda cool too.

I like most of the races. I mean, all of them are okay, none of them are terrible. The Worgen and Draeni are my least favorite.

Female draenei are pretty cool, but males look weird. I race changed to a dwarf shaman the day Cat came out.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

When I read the description of Honzu or whatever they are ("They are like 14 year olds running around together in the jungle") I thought "Crap, they're canonising the playerbase!" before I remembered they already did that in Cataclysm's Hillsbrad =P

You mean that weird little area with the dwarves and humans using foam swords for some reason? You know, before the horde whip out the nukes.

I'm guessing you were trying to quote Starswirl, but even so they'll probably just phase it for people who haven't completed quests in the zones up to a certain point. Like they did for Mount Hyjal and the Firelands invasion.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

I am a bit overly excited for Mists. Some guildies and I will definitely be doing some Challenge Modes, and I'm curious about the Scenarios and new BGs as well. Here's hoping beta access will go out pretty quickly for Annual Pass holders.

I absolutely cannot wait to kill the nightmare-fuel that is the Sha:

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

I think as someone that has played WoW for a lil' while, no matter how many expansions you release the game will still basically be the same. So I won't be buying it. I don't think expansions will be enough if you're really sick and tired of the game. Simply put the expansions can only scratch so much rust off the game. But it's definitely nice for players that haven't been playing for all that long. Can't say I wanna be a Pandaren.

Re: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

Been around since Beta, and I'm looking forward to MoP to say the least. I was never that "omgnewstuffhappy" for both WotLK and Cataclysm but for MoP they're introducing new stuff that you can do, so you wont get bored.

I haven't been given my beta access either...*grumble*

I've been playing WoW consistently since before the first expansion came out, and I look wildly forward to this coming expansion, myself. I feel like each expansion is, in a way, a new game. The talents and classes change enough, and new lore is introduced, that only leveling a new character really feels boring.

And I'm looking forward to making a couple of Pandaren characters. I loved Chen in WC3.
