I hadn't played Chrono Trigger before the DS port, but even 13 years after its original release the magic was still very much intact. It really is a wonderful game, the characters are great, the music is absolutely amazing and the story keeps you hooked throughout. It's short for an RPG, but it does have a dozen different endings (plus minor variations in the major endings depending on some of the choices you made earlier in the game) and it's one of those games where the New Game + feature actually does serve an important purpose.
So yeah, it's definitely a masterpiece and one of those games everyone should at least try out (and considering how many platforms it's now available on, there really is no excuse not to

).
