Dead video game series that need to be revived

The period during the late 80s to early 90s, without a doubt, revolutionized the gaming industry and was responsible for some of the best and most iconic video game franchises ever created, such as Zelda, Megaman, Metroid, Mario, Sonic, etc... While some of the franchises are still in continuation, others ended alongside the console that they were originally created for.

That kinda bothers me because there were so many great games that I feel should still be around today. One of my favorite NES games was a game called River City Ransom, a classic beat-em up game with RPG elements that focused on high school drama. I would love to see this franchise revived. Another one I'd like to see revived was yet another beat 'em up for Sega Genesis called Streets of Rage.

Are there any particular video game franchises that you would like to see revived/rebooted/brought back? Also feel free to discuss fresh new ideas that could be implemented in the games.

I mean, remakes are good, but Nintendo needs to stop remaking all their "jewels" console after console.

Before Colors/Generations I would.

I'd say Chrono Trigger, though SquareEnix's recent antics make me somewhat skeptical.
Starfox as Dei said on the other hand really needs a new game that preferably ignores every single one of the crap Command endings, except maybe the one with the welcome back party which seems to be the less damaging or the one where Dash turns into Andross 2.0, still don't like that game though.

While ChuChu Rocket! is recently released on an Android, I'd like to have a digital download for it on a console. Why it didn't make the move to WiiWare is beyond me.

Hotlinking is rude and in many cases, such as this one, the image gets blocked by the server because you're trying to waste their bandwidth.

Number one on my list would be Metroid. From my perspective, Metroid is more "dead" than it was during the seven year hiatus after Super Metroid.

Either get back to 2d or FPA. Stay away from third person shooter or 2D/3D hybrid. Almost as important, do not feature the Zero Suit in any way shape or form. Boom. Series revived.

Starfox. Preferably ignoring that Adventures, Assault and Command ever existed. The last good Star Fox game was Lylat Wars.
A new F-Zero would be nice as well.

Yes. They should just call Metroid: Other M a bad dream and create a true successor to Super Metroid.

I did love the First-Person Adventure approach of the Prime games. They still kept the exploration and discovery aspects of the 2d games but were also innovative and were one of the very few first person games I actually enjoyed (another favorite of mine was Goldeneye 007).
