I know a few members were playing the SSX demo and really enjoying it, and was wondering if anyone else had the game? I got it a couple of days ago, tried it for the first time last night. Really enjoyed it! It's not gimmicky or anything like Blur, the story is decent, the gameplay is fun, the courses are hectic. The game feels really intense, when you're speeding down tracks, especially now that you have armor/health to worry about and you can actually die on some of them.
It is a really decent game, be it an owner of the title myself. First snowboarding title since the days of 1080 on the GC/N64. I love the online features of challenging friends to beat your time/scores. I'm always winning points from times i've set with friends, heck i even won an online tournament (well, got a gold medal)
I'm really digging the system they got going online. Currently, I always land in the Platinum bracket for Trick It events. I did end one event in the diamond bracket and got 3 million credits, but that was only once.
The lack of offline multiplayer annoys me, but the lack of a different system to play against friends online is the biggest hole in the road for this game. You have to start an event, invite a friend and then wait in the heli until you see him or her enter the match, and then time it so you both start at the same simultaneously.
I actually got a review copy of the game, but had I not, that would have definitely been something that impacted whether I bought it or not. It is definitely a great, fun, game, but it's ultimately a single-player experience, and I don't think I would have been willing to shell out $80-$100 for it. I'd probably wait for a sale price.
I was going to buy this game until my PS3 went missing and I find out my damn brother sold it when it's mine..>.> No way to get it back now so I need to buy a new one sometime and I'll probably pick it up then.
The lack of offline multiplayer is kinda disappointing, but I'd probably be playing mostly single player now anyway. I doubt to many of my friends can beat me anyway.
