Will GBA games become downloadable for 3DS?

So I recently purchased a 3DS (Well today) and its from amazon so its not actually in my hands yet, but i was wondering seeing as they have got ridden of the gba game slot on the 3Ds wether or not GBA Games will become downloadable via the virtual store?

Sadly no. Nintendo only released a handful of GBA games for those who bought the 3DS before August last year. they remain exclusive to that group.

so yeah, you can't grab 'em. :< sorry. That said they MAY choose to release them later on; Nintendo has a store page set up for them on the eShop, I'm told, and visiting it mentions something about "coming soon".

It's the dumbest thing ever for the GBA games to remain exclusive to the ambassador program. I can understand the ambassadors getting the games for FREE. But the exclusivity is a huge middle finger being waved in my face. Everyone else should at the very least have the option to BUY them while those in the ambassador program continue to have them for free.

Nintendo, you're doing it wrong!

EDIT: Well, thinking a bit more about this, perhaps they're doing this as a marketing ploy.

1. Games are exclusive to a certain group.
2. Everyone else wants these games, a huge driving factor being that they aren't available to them.
3. Forced exclusivity develops a lust in the fanbase for these games.
4. Nintendo drips down exclusive games one by one and people eat them up.

Im pretty sure that GBA games with EVENTUALLY be available.

They're already slowly releasing the NES games that the ambassadors got for free on the eshop. If you ask me, I think it's just a matter of time now.

The NES games are ones they actually did confirm would be available for everyone eventually.


However-- and this is just my personal guess-- I believe the GBA games will be released eventually. It would make no sense for them to keep them exclusive, and all they ever said so far was "there are no plans to make these games public".

So it might take a while, but I wouldn't say it's impossible.
Speaking as an ambassador, I hope they do it. Not only would it be beneficial to everyone, but it means they'd add more of them that people don't already have, and they might also fix up the terrible emulation on the system too.

if my memory doesn't fail, Nintendo did anounce GBA games for the eShop way back before the price cut and ambassador program (TvTropes had that under the "And The Fandom Rejoiced), so is really a matter of time; the hook of the AP is that the games are free, not exclusive.

I still didn't get any of those GBA games from the price cut. I don't know how to. I only have Super Mario Bros. I looked on the shop and it isn't available.

Besides they may have other games lined up for potential release. (and i firmly believe at least...VERY LEAST...that Minish Cap will be made public. If it doesnt, then yeah..ill claim "dumb move.")
Notice games like the other Super Mario Advance (series) were not released at all. Fire Emblem 7 (which is one of the best in the series) was also not released. I do think that they may put these and numerous other titles out on the eshop eventually. They are still rifling through GB games. Give em time.

IMO, I think it's fair. The ambassadors spent $250, plus tax (I had to spend $275 on it). I don't think the 20 free games actually would cost $80 in all, but the fact that the GBA games are exclusive makes up for it.

Yeah, but as an Ambassador, having those games eventually made available for everyone just increases the chance of having ALL THE GBA GAMES made available.

How is it fair? I can understand ambassador's getting it for free. But not selling to everyone else is complete douchebaggery, and in my humble opinion, a very passive-aggressive move of Nintendo which looked almost like a childlike tantrum when they finally caved in and lowered the price of the 3DS.

We get it. We know how pissed off you are about Nintendo making them exclusive when you couldn't afford a 3DS at the right time.

But in order to substantiate why exactly it's not "fair", you're going to need to do more than make ad hominem comments about the situation.

So Nintendo are withholding stuff they already have ready and preventing people from being able to give them money? Makes sense.

You know, I am an ambassador and I have to agree that the exclusivity is completely stupid.

I mean, why? They already have the data of the games available for download, right? Isn't the only thing stopping them from selling them to regular human beings just adding them to the store and giving them a price?

I certainly wouldn't feel ripped off, since I got them for free in the first place, and the combined price of the games would most likely be above of the extra I paid.

Even if all the games combined ended up costing less than $80, it still doesn't make sense for ambassadors to get pissed, that's like me getting angry when I paid launch price for a console and then found out that a year later they released a bundle that gives 2 great games plus the console at the same price. You got the console early, and you got free games, that's leagues ahead of what companies already do to compensate for price drops (if they ever do it at all), regardless of the 3DS's rough start so you should be happy about it.

It's not purposeful douchebaggery from Nintendo IMO, more like a marketing ploy to create hype for old games, or sheer stupidity.
