Already pre-ordered Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Mark of Mastery edition on Amazon with Release Date Delivery! So excited!

Although there have been a few good gems for 3DS already:
Ocarina of Time 3D
Kid Icarus Uprising
Super Mario 3D Land

But yeah, KH: DDD is going to be one of the best, although as of right now, I believe Kid Icarus Uprising is the best 3DS game.

The only new 3DS game I'll be getting this year is New Super Mario Bros. 2. And if that winds up being a birthday present, I'll probably get the Kirby anniversary collection for Wii.

So, because Pinkie Pie was itching for a new game of some sort, she picked up Lego Star Wars III: Clone Wars. It's pretty fun, though it was easy beyond belief and has already been 100% completed (aside from Streetpass nonsense).

Lego Star Wars III was okay, but it lacked the charm of the first two in my opinion.

Pinkie Pie also felt this, and most of the humor lacked the subtlety of the first two Lego Star Wars games, and depended far too much on bland physical humor. Part of that might have stemmed from Pinkie Pie's indifference towards the cartoon, however, since she watched the film and decided that it was a stinking piece of ♥♥♥♥.

Definitely! I'll be getting the Mark of Mastery Edition, because you get the game plus a crapload of rare stuff for just 15 dollars more. It's a pretty good deal for what you get in the package.

The 3DS XL is an alright idea. I won't be buying it but some will surely appreciate the larger screens. I'm pretty hyped for New Super Mario Bros. 2 though. I'm replaying the original DS game at the moment.

Okay, it's finally coming through to me. I was wrong, Nintendo was right.

Like the DSi XL, the 3DS XL isn't meant to be a better 3DS model, just a different one. That way, consumers who want the larger screen and consumers who need the extra portability can get whichever they want without worrying too much.

In that context, it makes sense that the 3DS XL doesn't have a second circle pad, or it'll be the better system, and that would create a dilemma. Consumers who want both the small size of the original 3DS and the built-in second circle pad will have a hard time choosing, and hard decisions like that will lower consumer confidence in buying either product.

Personally, I don't care for the larger screen and value the ability to carry the 3DS in my pocket, but if the XL had a second circle pad, I'd be torn about upgrading to the XL. I'd also feel burned again, like with the 3DS price cut, that my current system has been turned obsolete so fast by a superior model.

And if that causes developers to utilize the 2nd circle pad more, I could be forced into either buying the CCP (which I don't like) or getting an XL (which I don't really want). So I'm grateful that the 2nd circle pad was "omitted".

The XL has a better grip and is bigger. That's superior in my book.

Sadly, I won't be able to afford it anytime soon.

A second circle pad wouldn't be used by 95% of the 3DS library. Everyone is clamouring for one but the games don't even use it because the 3DS itself doesn't have a second stick. It's like, I dunno, asking for an extra button on the 360 controller. The original doesn't have one and therefore no game is really made with that extra button in mind.

Sure, there's RE: Revelations and MGS3. The latter is a pretty bad / average port, the former works perfectly fine without the second pad. Kid Icarus would benefit from the stick, but hey, that game is already made and released - it has support for a second stick but it's almost worse.

If you're so desperate for the second circle pad, despite the games not being designed to use them, then you can just buy the peripheral (remember, one is coming for 3DS XL also). Maybe in the future you'll get lucky and they'll do a Motion Plus thing (releasing the peripheral then finally making it a built in feature), but I wouldn't hold your breath.

In other news, I'm already like 40 hours into Theatrhythm and at over 50,000rm. I'm pretty sure I've unlocked all of the songs but I don't think I have 70+, so I dunno. I'll probably make a more in depth post about that game later since I have a ton of new thoughts. But yeah, amazing game.

In other other news, I'm kinda bummed to find out that you can't even gift games via éshop. I wouldn't even mind if it were region locked like what the Wii had, but yeah.. wow. Way to go backwards Nintendo.

... which means that the notion that the 3DS XL is merely an "alternative" as opposed to an "improvement" of sorts is a bit dubious.

I agree. If my 3DS breaks, I still wouldn't get a XL. I rather have a portable system that fits in my pocket

Lucky you when I was going to preorder the mark of mastery edition in gamestop they where not taking orders anymore

If the second circle pad improves game control I'm not sure I care about what you don't want to buy.
