What if your Shepard's first name really was "Commander"?

Hi, past self!
Don't worry, Ashley will do it in your game. It looks like it's your love interest that puts the plaque up.

Hahaha, wow I got an ending entirely on accident and I actually liked how it turned out.

Whats funny about the whole name thing is that I was expecting Javik to pipe in with something along the lines of " In my cycle, our COs told us what their first names were"

Re: Mass Effect 3

Replayed the ending with the DLC. An improvement, for sure, but still not great. Really cemented that I chose the right ending going Blue, though, since that played out in the extended end exactly how I had hoped.

I didn't have one, my options being a racist, a sociopath, a bunch of aliens, some reporter chick I barely even met before she started hitting on me, and, more recently, a couple dudes. (With Miranda never forgiving me for siding against her on an argument, she never reciprocated my love.)

It decided to use Garrus.

I'm okay with that.

The ultimate Bromance.

You know, the extended cut was a missed chance to make the lesbian scene with Traynor a lot less stupid looking.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Another thing: adding the scene of the Normandy picking up your squadmates in the middle of the whole run to the tractor beam sequence REALLY killed the pacing for that scene. They should have been separated before the initial sprint, maybe they got banged up in the shuttle crash at the beginning of the scene or something. As is, it just destroys the sense of urgency.

Awful endings are awful endings, what can I say. Put it in a fancy dress and it's still awful.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Does anyone think that the Synthesis ending is actually pretty horrifying for those that were Huskified? Do they regain their memories now that they are sapient? Wouldnt death be then preferable to living as a monstrosity?

I think synthesis is horrifying in and of itself, but that's just my personal beliefs getting in the way.

So does Shepard live in the destroy ending?

His/her grave is put up, yet we still see him/her breathe at the end.

I'm guessing s/he was simply presumed dead (heck, the Normandy crew puts Shep's name up before even leaving that planet), but obviously everyone's mistaken.
So, Shepard lives!
....or nobody ever finds him/her and Shep eventually dies of either blood loss or starvation.

I think its the most unethical choice as you are stripping away the ability of everyone to make a life altering choice for themselves.

It's kinda like what they did with Master Chief at the end of Halo 3.

It's worth noting that it was the method most preferred by the Catalyst, which was designed to end conflict between organic and synthetic, and had for millions of years prior chose horribly unethical means to achieve its goals.

I think it's supposed to be seen as unethical.

Me and one of my LP partners talk about the extended cut in here, and the nature of Mass Effect 3's story in general.

He/she does if you're playing with an imported character, or beating the game a second time. I chose the destroy ending while playing the DLC as it was my original choice, and as far as I remember, Liara (my love interest in the game) didn't actually put my name on the large wall of remembrance (or it didn't show, or maybe I was looking away at the time?). She just smiled and it cut off from there, so I think that was a further hint that Shepard survives.

As far as the scene with Shepard inhaling, there wasn't any extended scene to that, which kind of made me sad, but eh.

As for the actual DLC altogether, it was definitely better this time around, even pulled a few tears from my eyes, but I couldn't help feeling a little awkward, as if it was a little too late.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I just watched a very in depth description of Indoctrination Theory. I didn't agree with most of its points but the remaining few were very persuasive.

Granted, to pick up on all of the information they did they had to read the novels and comics and scour the codex and watch every ending, which I did not do, and yet, still, I somehow feel like I'm a sucker for going blue.

Reflecting on the EC, which obviously wasn't detailed in this study, there really isn't anything that changes the evidence, only a different implied amount of reality in the endgame.
