I loved it. It got kind of old, as Platforming games usually do at in the latter half, but it was pretty great overall.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

I played it at a cousin's house quite a few years ago. I personally enjoyed it. Even though it became tedious after a while to need to look for that last banana to get to the boss, I still enjoyed being able to control Diddy and Tiny Kong.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

It was quite good at the time, and as DekuKid said, it did get really tedious. But the playable characters made the game much better.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

I hated it. I found the layout to be disjointed and the gameplay to be slow and boring.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

I really liked it. There was a point when I liked it more than Ocarina of Time, but that changed quickly.

So yes, I did enjoy DK64.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

It was an awesome game. As l-o-s said, a bit tedious, but it was a natural expansion of the formula established in Banjo-Kazooie. Wish I still had it.

I second that.

Its one of the few games that I simply stopped playing. Around the fourth world maybe? I just can't remember.

It's all "collect this" and "find one hundred of these", and then "look! another collectible for you to find!"

It became flat out ridiculous.

DK64 was the game that finally made me get the N64, because I loved the SNES series. I have the Jungle Green Nintendo 64 system and the Jungle Green controller.

Sadly, the game sucks.

Maybe we'll get another try at the series that I enjoy more sometime in the future.

EDIT: Maybe it has to do with my individual nature. I'm a bit of a complete-freak as far as games go. I simply couldn't stand having aspects of the game left uncompleted, and I guess that helped to drive me away from the game. (I couldn't complete stuff because there were just too many things to collect...)

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

Yes, the game got to the point that all you had left to do was play those impossible to win mini-games that were frusterating as heck. That was the tedious part for me.
If you lost, you were pretty much thrown out of the level and you had to go all the way back to the game. It got really annoying. I remember the Pirate Water level the most. *Shudders*

Cookies to whoever can name all the Kongs in that game.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed Donkey Kong 64?

Oy... Mario 64 you had to collect stuff, Banjo-Kazooie was the same thing, but I think DK64 would have been better if it were Sonic styled. You know, a straght corse for one kong, and a battle one for the other... One thing that I truely hated about the game was that, Wrickly died.
