What Annoys You? - Gaming Edition!

The idea that pre-release information is incapable of being spoilers. Even if the developer says "this guy dies at the end", some people won't consider that a spoiler because it was officially announced before the game came out.

Spoilers are the big one for me. Trailers that show off too much of a game, too. I want to know if I'll like the game, but I don't want to see clips from all the notable scenes up front. I want to be surprised, dammit x.x

Games/systems with unreasonable DRM. Stop treating gamers like criminals, please!

Point cards. Let us buy an XBox/PSN/Nintendo store/iTunes card and then load the amount of money we want on the card at the register, instead of forcing us to buy an awkward amount of points that we'll never use.

I guess what I'm trying to say is STOP SCREWING OVER THE CUSTOMER! Like that will ever happen, lolol

The ways companies have tried to screw over consumers this past generation. The games didn't suck this generation, but these tactics they used was one of the reasons I think this was one of the worst generations of gaming.

The eshop really isn't any better. I mean, stuff cost 2.99? 3.99? Why not just round it up? Now I have leftover cents that I can never use. God damn.

Correction!

Some of the games DID suck yet the devs and publishers still would use the crappy marketing tactics.

When a console is reaching Old Console Syndrome. Mostly happens to cart consoles. When they restart at random or just dont plain boot up.

No generation is absent from sucky games. I was still saying that this generation had loads and loads of good games, it is just that the marketing tactics and that people think that just because Call of Duty was successful they are going try to make a game that is almost exactly the same thing as CoD.

The internets. Although it's far from killed my passion for gaming, it certainly killed a lot of the magic for me. I'm sure quite a few people can remember going to the store with their parents and picking a game just because the box looked cool, because their friend recommended it or because they saw a picture of it in a magazine somewhere. It would be stupid to deny that being able to sift through hundreds upon hundreds of reviews has merit but it would be nice to be able to walk into a store and look at every game equally.

Speaking of the internet, the negativity can be pretty overwhelming. Expecting people to stop trolling or hit puberty is probably asking a lot but it would be nice if people had conversations instead of arguments.

The DRM thing really annoys me as well. I also hate how companies like Capcom put dlc on the disc, but require you to pay to unlock it. Another thing that ticks me off is when fans rant and complain when game companies don't release a lot of info/spoilers to the public before it comes out. I.E. Assassin's Creed 3. I've been reading some comments on some websites where the fans are complaining and hating on the game JUST because they don't know much about it. Some people just don't have any patience.

This has always been a bit of a problem for me. Why is it that you need to have hit puberty in order for your opinion to be taken seriously? I would take a 8 year old's opinion on a game just as seriously as 28 year old's opinion.

I'm sure this has been said, but the most annoying thing to me, is that games don't give their players enough credit anymore. They're too easy now. They tell you what to do and when to do it.

Games like Super Metroid are perfect in this aspect. They throw you into the middle of this gigantic world, and expect you to figure it out on your own. After all, isn't that the fun of playing a game?

True, though personally I wouldn't a LITTLE bit of help in the right direction. Not constant notification of what I need to do.

This one is actually in game, and it's the horses in Skyrim. They annoy me so much because they always feel the need to attack any enemy that is near by, when I'm not riding it. So my horse ends up being killed while i'm trying to protect myself. Then I'm out of a horse. I'm playing Skyrim right now and thought of that while I was on this thread.

cheap games. TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL 3D for the 3DS

Large censuses of fans of one particular game that you're also a fan of but the large group of fans make you ashamed to be a fan of that game yourself.

IE: The PSN Forums and Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry, and Jak & Daxter.
