Best FF villain

A few words before destruction and chaos.

Select your favorite FF villain, but only if neccesary come to blows about, say, Kefka and Sephiroth. Remember, you are listing your favorite villain, not contradicting others. This poll deals with villains of the main series, no spinoffs or sequels (like, no Vormav or Shuyin).

You know...I say no arguing, but everyone will ignore that.

I really like Sephiroth. And Kuja.

I like the Emperor. He became master of Heaven and Hell after death, until he was defeated again, and throughout that time, he killed more 'main' characters than Sephiroth/Kefka... so whatever they did, Mateus already did first, and better. He wasn't genetically altered, or the son of a crazy doctor, or became crazy due to a magicka accident, he did everything he did just because (and for the lulz). Plus he looks fabulous.

He also, by your logic, is the Ghirahim of Final Fantasy.

Either Kefka or Mateus though I voted for the former.

I liked Sephiroth a lot.

I voted for the only FF villain I know of who actually got what he was after (can't comment on Emperor Mateus, as I haven't played FF2).

Definitely, a splice between Mateus and Kefka should result in Ghirahim. I can't really decide on which of them. They both remind me of Ghirahim in some way and they're both my favorite story-characters in Dissidia (their characters were expanded so awesomely). $_$

Anyhow, I'mma have to go with Mateus. In FF2, he conquered the realm of the living, heaven and hell. Meanwhile, in Dissidia, he almost because more powerful than both Gods.

I'm surprised Mateus has some popularity among FF fans here. On Youtube and Facebook people don't give him a second glance.

Even on his home ground over at the FF forums Mateus doesn't get this attention. Looking at it in proportion, that is.

FF2 is one of the most overlooked games in the series. Other than that, fans of the franchise aren't very fond of the gameplay.

As awesome as the things Mateus does are, he doesn't exactly have much screentime in the original game. If I remember correctly he's only in three scenes. The coliseum battle, when he dies and goes to hell, and the last boss battle.

Kefka just has so much personality and we run into him several times throughout the game to build on it.

And his hand doesn't shake. He isn't the type of villain that gives even a second for the heroes. For example, he isn't all:

Kefka: I shall poison the water!
Heroes: No!

Kefka: NNNnnnOOOooo...!

But honestly, Kefka has one of the best battle themes in the history of battles, villains and themes.
