Ross should always be Zerker! Always!
Amelia as a General is ok but her move is so crap so i usually just make her Cavalier > Paladin. (Cuz Great Knight is lamesauce)
Ewan is usually a Sage but he can go either way. Hes my least fave out of the trainees though. (He makes a fair Summoner)

Re: Fire Emblem

I always use Ewan as a Druid. I believe he generally makes the worst Summoner, as far as Summon quality actually goes.

I forget, does SS Sage have both Light and Anima magic? If so, then I can see why that would be a good idea, thanks to that glitch that allows you to use dark magic.

Re: Fire Emblem

Just spent three hours arenaing in Sacred Stones.

Had Ross at a level 12 Pirate, maxed out STR, everyone else over level 10.

Ross dies.

I identify with this more than I care to admit.

I never bet higher than 670 or so because of this.

Also Ewan is THE ULTIMATE DRUID, but I like dark magic in general, so (good lord, Canas <3 ).

Nyet. Knoll is the worst even with Summon quality. Ive seen Ewan spew out minions with killer axes and junk.

Re: Fire Emblem

I always make Ross a Warrior, because I always feel I have enough Berserkers in that game. As for Ewan, he always dies before I can promote him. Knoll I make a Summoner.

Without knowing what other Fire Emblem games has to offer, it seems like an okay game. I have no doubts you'll like the Ambassador one better and maybe see how 11 sucks in comparison.

Re: Fire Emblem

FE11 is okay. I think though it just hasn't aged too well compared to the other FE games.

Re: Fire Emblem

First time I have ever posted in this thread as I played my first FE game this yesterday thanks to the Nintendo Ambassador Program. When I was younger I was never really interested in these games and never thought much of buying one but playing this one now makes me wish I had. The years I have wasted. The game is awesome, I love the artstyle and the battle animations, also the battles are surprisingly fast. I want to play more so I was just wondering what the beat ones for wii/gamecube, DS, GBA were? Also in sacred stones is there a easy way to gain party members or is it just story inherited members? Seen the trailer for FE3DS and want it so badly.

Re: Fire Emblem

I'm... maybe five minutes into Sacred Stones now, but I already like the art style better. Something about the shading in FE11 always seemed off to me :/

And I'm not supposed to use Seth because he's already a Paladin, am I? D: And he seems so awesome...

Re: Fire Emblem

You can use him on the first 2 or so chapters, just don't overuse him, because then you'll be preventing experience that other characters can get that Seth doesn't need. Whatever you do, do not use Seth to kill a boss.

Story inherited. Most will join at the end of, or sometimes in the middle as long as you don't let them die. Better to talk to them and get them on your side early on so you can make sure they don't do anything stupid.

Re: Fire Emblem

I remember the first time I played Fire Emblem, I thought I was playing it right because during the battle sequences I button mashed. Then I realized how that didn't change anything, and then realized that it was not necessary at all. And that was when I started reading the instruction manual.

Re: Fire Emblem

My favorite is Radiant Dawn, but if that new 3DS FE comes out here I might be. I'm really looking forward to it. It would be a big mistake on Nintendos part if they did not make it an international release.

FE characters are almost always acquired by story, either in plot cutscenes or cutscenes you go out of your way to trigger, such as by having a character talk to a recruitable character in battle or, in Path of Radiance (and probably Radiant Dawn), watching all the "Info" cutscenes. You can't recruit random enemy units, only specific ones that have faces and are not bosses. There is usually a clue for how to get said character, though.

Seth is a really good character, but no, you shouldn't use him just yet. He's what is referred to as a "Jeigan." You get him really early and he ♥♥♥♥s everyone's ♥♥♥♥ up, at the cost of leaving all his companions really weak. You want to try to focus on your Lord and your other, unpromoted units, first.

Seth is special because he's one of few Jeigans that don't suck. Marcus in FE7 sucks. Marcus in FE6 sucks even worse, if I recall. Seth and FE9 Titania do not suck.

Seth is...an interesting case. Unlike many others of that particular archetype (Jeigan), Seth is actually really solid throughout the whole game. Kinda like Titania from Path of Radiance. Seth should not be abused in the first parts of the game because he will eat experience away from the rest of your team. Hes great to have around for utility and laying the smack down on particularly troublesome enemies. (Just try not to have him eat boss kills. Your lords and stuff want that experience.) Like in that one chapter where theres villagers in the corner (Fog of War chapter) and a spider is coming for them. Seth is good there. He can Leeroy Jenkins that ♥♥♥♥ and get to those villagers. Him and Vanessa both work well for that. (if you keep all dem villagers alive, you get a goodie at the end of the chapter.) Since Sacred Stones allows for some srs level grinding with the Tower of Valni (optional of course), using Seth in the main game doesnt hurt everyone else as much as one would think. Support him with Eirika and watch things die.

To recruit allies, a lot of the time there will be conditions to be met. Like having Ross speak to Eirika and then having Ross talk to Garcia. And junk like that. In chapter 5 (i think...) you get a cleric chick named Natasha and you want her to talk to that myrmidon bloke with the sweet, sweet hat that appears near the arena. Sounds hard and it can be a pain but friggin a is Joshua worth it! There are loads of others. Try everything but make sure those enemy units (who arent bosses) that have their own dialogue and sprite mug, dont die. Like recruiting Amelia...Shes like super weak and can be killed with one shot. But Franz talking to her makes her join you. (and she can become awesome.)

Quote:
Marcus in FE7 sucks.
Not really. While he can be completely outclassed by Sain, Kent, Lowen and even Isadora, hes not like super ♥♥♥♥ty. Marcus is excellent for utility purposes even when hes not doing a lot of combat. Ferrying around people, rescuing, getting items to people, etc. In the first chapters of Eliwoods/Hectors story, Marcus is really helpful with aiding in clearing a path and stuff. So he doesnt outright suck. His incarnation in FE6 is flippin balls though. But i do recall one guy in FE6 (i think his name is Zealot) who comes as a prepromoted Paladin, whos even worse than Marcus. Yeap.
