What can nintendo do to improve?
If you guys can remember way back when, nintendo was the top dog, without a question. Now nintendo just seems like the system that trails behind picking up whatever the other consoles leave (at least in the U.S, I think worldwide nintendo is number 2). What do you guys think nintendo needs to do to improve it's spot in the consoles wars? I think they should start making their games a little more mature. (So far, they're slowly getting their.
Notice that the Metroid games are very mature, and the new Zelda GCN game. Also, Killer 7, Resident Evil 4, Fire Emblem, a good looking Star Fox game, unlike Star Fox Adventure, and Advanced Wars are part of the 2005 line up) The DS is also an example of nintendo changing face, with the wireless multiplayer and stuff. Anyway, I think that nintendo is getting there. The nintendo revolution (in my opinion) will be the determining factor whether or not nintendo will be able to stay in the console race. Nintendo has said that the DS is a hint as to what to expect from the revolution. Now, if this means that nintendo will implement wireless multiplayer, LAN enabled gaming, microphone and better graphics, then I think nintendo will do just fine. But nintendo has to adopt a mature look!!! But I believe that we nintendo fans are also the reason why nintendo is doing terrible. Most gamecube owners only buy games made by nintendo or 2nd party publishers. We need to buy more third party publisher games. I'm doing my part. I have a considerable amount of third party games on my gamecube. I believe out of my 25 games, 14 of my games are third party titles. I guess the reason why third party publishers don't want to make games on the gamecube is because they fear that the fans won't buy them. Do any of you know the process that a third party publisher has to go through to develop a game on gamecube? Why are they so reluctant? Are my assumptions correct? What do you guys think nintendo should do to improve it's image? Do you think that nintendo is slowly taking the right path? |

Nintendo is starting to get more mature lately. For example, a couple of months ago, Nintendo openly swore in an article on their site. Sounds stupid, but it was a step in the right direction. Now for example, look at the sexual Nintendo DS ads, and to a lesser extent, the MTV Wildboys commercials. Once again, it isn't all that much, but it is something that Nintendo has been lacking. Up to now, all their commercials have been cleverly-family-like-funny. I personally, think we have Mr. Kick A$s Take Names to thank for these new ads.

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
Well, Nintendo can sure advertise more. I see Sony advertising Playstation like it was a cellphone on TV and other places. Why doesn't Nintendo too?

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
Yeah but some of the Nintendo Advertisements are well done, when they do come on.
Regulated Online play like XBOX and PS2, and less having to buy different equipment...An example would be Crystal Chornicles, where you'd need four GBAs and Four connector cables to play with four friends...agh...

Although, their new advertising campaign for the Nintendo DS is pretty good. Not only are the commercials kind of interesting (asking you to touch the television screen), but there are a lot of them. In fact, from what I read, this will be the largest ad campaign that Nintendo has ever run. I'm hoping it pays off. |

Yeah because Nintendo really took their eyes off the ball and it seems they're getting back on track, we hope. I'm still getting a PSP though, I just think it'll have better games. Heck, I'll get both as soon as I can find a job in this friggin city.

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
I'm a Nintendo fan, and i'll never leave Nintendo consoles to go onto other systems. Nintendo have started advetising more often, which i think is a good thing. Advertising means more people would buy a game than if it was not advertised. But with maturity, Metroid can't be cartoony, it wouldn't be the same. Zelda suits both realistic and cartoony effects (Take OOT and WW for example, both great games) But with other things, Nintendo are making a huge comeback and they are doing it with a vengeance

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
I just bought an Xbox, for a few reasons: Plenty of great 3rd party games, Xbox Live, and good exclusive games (1st party or otherwise). Nintendo only has one of those. It's 3rd party support it valiantly tried to build at the launch of the GCN has been slowly going downhill, and Sony and Microsoft are kicking the N's heiny around in the online department. If Nintendo focuses more in those two departments for it's "Revolution" console, then it would surely do a lot better. "Connectivity" is nice, but only as a bonus-factor; not a replacement for online play. All Nintendo really has going for it right now is price, 1st party games, a kickass controller and better graphical capabilities than the PS2.
Next time around, I also suggest a high-capacity disk format, like their own version of HD-DVD designed specifically for games, but a drive that will also play CD's and DVD's. I'm not a fan of having a DVD drive built into a system, but it was a selling point for the Xbox and PS2. |

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
I feel that Nintendo really needs to consider online multiplayer in future games. Besides maybe two games, Nintendo has done nothing that would indicate any interest in pursuing online gaming. It's missing a potential group of customers devoted to online gaming.

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
Essentially what I think Nintendo needs to do is increase 3rd party support and it seems to be doing that, finally...
as for multiplayer online gaming, the DS can support up to 16 players at once I believe, at fairly good ranges and that could easily improve from a good range any range if pluged into a wall... |

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
I'll admit, I am a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, but I also need to admit that I am kinda disapointed in what Nintendo is doing lately. What Nintendo needs to do is put out some darker games on their market. Everyone is hatin' Nintendo now and I dont blame the haters. What would be cool if the Grand Theft Autos series were on the Gamecube and such. But Nintendo too soft to put any ultra contoversual game on their system.
Other thing is make a online network were all the muti-player Nintendo games can be play on the internet(But that will never happen) Some of their game series are gettin' a bit stale, so they need to thorw some new ideas to their nix and everyone will like them again. But hey, we never know, if Nintendo keeps scewring up, we might see Super Mario with Sony and the Pokemon series on the PSP. Hey, look what happen to Sega.

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
I think nintendo quite simply need a new franchise. Really they could be succesful without any new franchises, because, due to the DS and the Revolution, they can keep all their franchises fresh by adding unique ideas. But regardless they need something new.
Pikmin was good. A good idea, a general good game. But they mucked it up. If pikmin 2 was really pikmin one, it wouldve hav hit home. Long story short, they need a new franchise

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
Nintendo needs to do nothing to improve. Nintendo's games are, in general, quite wonderful and I'm content with things as they are. Online multiplayer, in my opinion, is not all it's cracked up to be, and extra game system functions are nothing to fuss about.

Re: What can nintendo do to improve?
1) Third Party Support During this generation, Nintendo was weak on Thrid-Party support. Sony and Microsoft got all of it. By the time Nintendo was starting to get Third-Party support it was too late. It is visible that Nintendo is trying to make up for that on the DS. Most of the games I see are third party. Nintendo did receive some great Third-Party games but then they were later released on PS2 with better stuff because Nintendo had already messed up too much. 2) Mature-ness Nintendo has been full of childish looking games in the beggining. They wanted games that the whole family can enjoy. I see nothing wrong with that but there is still a large majority of people who go for the darker looking |
